GAPASCA, in its second year of existence, continues to strive to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged but deserving new high school graduates of Gapan City.  The anniversary year started with its first Scholarship and Achievement Awards banquet on March 7, 2015 held at the Municipal Hall of Gapan City. The first 12 GAPASCA scholars were introduced and awarded their college scholarship.  In addition, scholarship incentive awards were given to 24 deserving students.

The scholarship banquet was a huge success and made a history in the city of Gapan in many ways. It was well attended by family members of the scholars and the awardees, principals, retired teachers and benefactors. The keynote speaker was ABS Party List Representative Catalina ‘Baby’ Pizzaro, who gave full support to the organization’s Scholarship program, not as politician but as Adopt-A-Student Benefactor. Gapan City Mayor Maricel Natividad Nagano gave warm welcome and inspiring remarks to the scholars and surprised the 24 incentive awardees with a onetime scholarship aid.

Gapasca has launched several projects this year  – the Pechanga Turn Around with more than 100 passenger guests in February; the “Pabasa,” held at St. Linus Church in March and the Divina Pastora Fiesta last May held at Cerritos Regional County Park in Cerritos. These events were well attended by cheerful Gapanenses and friends in the community, some of whom showcased their talents in chanting the Passion of Christ at the PABASA, singing their favorite karaoke songs, showcased their best line dancing steps and a ‘Hula” dance exhibition at the Fiesta celebration.  An array of Gapan City’s specialty cuisines and delicacies were displayed in all of these events.
