MANILA (Mabuhay) — Satisfaction with the Aquino administration rose from a record-low +19 last March to +31 in June, according to a new survey by pollster Social Weather Stations.
The SWS survey conducted June 5 to 8 among 1,200 adults showed 55 percent satisfied, 24 percent dissatisfied and 20 percent undecided, for a “good” +31.
It was an increase from the 48 percent satisfied, 29 percent dissatisfied and 23 percent undecided in March, for a “moderate” +19 – the lowest since 2010.
June’s survey results brought satisfaction levels with the Aquino administration back to “good” territory. It was a “good” +34 in December 2014.

SWS classifies net satisfaction scores of +70 and above as “excellent;” +50 to +69 “very good”; +30 to +49 “good”; +10 to +29 “moderate”; +9 to -9 “neutral”; -10 to -29 “poor”; -30 to -49 “bad”; -50 to -69 “very bad”; and -70 and below “execrable.”
Results of the survey were posted late Monday night on SWS’ media partner BusinessWorld.
But the administration had low scores in some issues, including fighting crimes, eradicating graft and corruption, fighting inflation, ensuring no family will ever be hungry, and ensuring oil firms don’t take advantage of oil prices.
It also got a bad mark in resolving the Maguindanao massacre case with justice.
An infographic based on the SWS results showed the Aquino administration got good marks in six issues, moderate in five, neutral in five, poor in three, and very bad in one.

The SWS said the administration improved in helping the poor, foreign relations, defending the country’s territorial rights, and fighting terrorism.
But it was perceived as doing worse compared to March in fighting crime and ensuring oil firms don’t take advantage of oil prices.
By social classes
The improvement was recorded across socioeconomic classes and most geographical areas except Metro Manila, where there was a negligible fall.
Among Class ABC, the Aquino administration’s rating rose a grade and 14 points to a “good” +33 from a “moderate” +19 in March. Class E also saw an improvement to +38 from +24 in March.
In Class D, net satisfaction rating remained “moderate” but improved to +29 from +18 in March.
By areas
The administration’s ratings improved in Balance Luzon, 21 points higher than March at a “moderate” +29 in June compared to a “neutral” +8 last March.
Visayas numbers remained in “good” territory, but registered a nine-point improvement to +43 from +34 in March.
Mindanao numbers improved to a “good” +34 from a “moderate” +26 in March.
But in Metro Manila, the rating stayed in “moderate” territory and dipped three points to +18 from +21 in March.
The survey had sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages and ±6 points each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. (MNS)
