Archbishop Jose Gomez ordained 30-year-old Fr. Marinello ‘Melo’ R. Saguin to the priesthood, along with seven other men, during a Mass celebrated at the Cathedral of the Angels on May 30, 2015.

The son of the late Ruel Aguila Saguin and Marilyn Cervantes Saguin from Los Angeles, said that he first thought of a priestly vocation when he was preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the second grade.  He celebrated his first Mass at the Holy Family Church in Glendale on May 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., and his parish assignment as Associate Pastor is St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in Lomita.

When asked for advice for men discerning priesthood, he said,  “A priest must have the heart to receive and give love!  After all he is a father to his people, who is pointing them to a reward that is beyond this life.”
