Are you a housewife or a stay-at-home mom?
Are you bored from staying at home the whole day?
Has your self-esteem decreased because you are “just” a housewife?
There are many reasons why you became a stay at home mom.
Some of them might be…
You have never worked outside the home. As soon as you graduated, you got married and became a housewife. Thus, you may feel that your years of education are wasted.
You have experienced working but your husband asked you to stop since his income is enough to sustain the family. Thus, you may feel that the additional income you could bring in could have helped a lot more.
Your may have a child who has special needs, so you need to be present and hands on. Thus, you may feel that you had no choice but to stay home and care for the needs your child.
Some may have overlooked the value of being a housewife. But let me tell you the truth, being a housewife is no laughing matter. It is not just a simple domestic responsibility, but a major responsibility. Never entertain the idea that you have no value just because you stay home all day, that you don’t have worth, or that you don’t have anything to contribute. Never ever declare that you are “just” a housewife or “just” a stay-at-home mom.
To all the housewives, let me tell who you really are….
YOU ARE A HERO
One major qualifier of a hero is sacrifice. Heroes are considered as such because of the sacrifice they do. In your case, you have sacrificed a lot – your career, dreams, job, the ability to produce income for the family, your passion, your time, etc.
A housewife, unlike people with regular jobs, doesn’t have a day-off. Your service is available to your family 24/7. You transform into a SUPER HELPER on a daily basis; laundrywoman, cleaning lady, cook. You transform into a SUPER ACCOUNTANT at the end of every month; budget, balance the ledger and pay the bills. You transform into a SUPER NANNY and NURSE; take care of the kids, give them their daily vitamins, stay awake to watch over a sick little one. In other words, your service must be available for your family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even Superman can’t do that. Now, would you still deny that you are a hero?
YOU ARE IMPORTANT
Every time you entertain the thought that you are “just” a housewife, think a million times.
Don’t belittle your role in society, especially the role you have in your family. You are an essential part of both your family and society. But you need to understand and believe this yourself.
Why not try to take a day-off and leave everything to your husband for one day. Don’t clean, don’t cook. Just leave the kids to fend for themselves, to bathe themselves. Better yet, leave the house. What do you think will happen? I can only think of one word that would best describe what can possibly happen: CHAOS!
Now, can you still deny that you are important?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the housewives and stay-at-home moms who have given up their careers and set aside their personal dreams to take care of their family and be a full-time mom. This blog is especially dedicated to my wife, Nove Ann who did the same. “I love you, mahal!”
Becoming a housewife is a PRIVILEGE, not an OBLIGATION.
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
If you are a housewife, these are the two things you need to remember:
You are a HERO.
You are IMPORTANT.
