Kapamilya actress KC Concepcion looks forward to many things this year. These include her acting comeback now that she’s in better shape than ever; and hopefully, a blooming love life, too.
KC’s career took a backseat last year when she opted to focus on her family and other endeavors, including her advocacies with the United Nations, which named her the National Ambassador Against Hunger for their World Food Programme.
“I would love to also do meaningful projects and go back to acting. Syempre I took a step back this 2015, focused more on business and United Nations. This year, I want to go back to acting and reconnect with my network,” KC said at the press conference for Natural Looks.
Her last acting project was a TV series with Paolo Avelino, “Give Love On Christmas,” which ended in January 2015. The break from showbiz also allowed KC to get to know herself better and reassess her life and career.
“Siguro it’s more of not being afraid to take a step back and say no to certain things. For example, kung gagawa ako ng project for the sake of maging exposed, I think ayaw ko na lang mag-yes sa isang project na hindi naman bagay sa akin. Ayaw ko naman din na ma-shortchange ’yung mga audience… So kapag may time na maganda ’yung dumating sa akin, I would like to make my audience happy and na-feel ko naman din na merong naka-miss sa akin,” she said.
KC is thankful her fans never left despite her absence.
“It’s just so nice na andyan ’yung support ng mga fans sa akin at ’yung mga fans they will be with me in whatever journey talaga. I think na it’s nice din na ’yung mga business na hindi nakikita ng mga tao nag-start na din ako. So it’s a learning experience for me na hindi lang sa entablado ’yung work but pati ’yung hindi napapanuod ng mga tao,” she said.
Taking opportunities as they come, KC’s mantra this year is: “Believe na it’s going to be better than you ever imagined.”
It seems to be working in her favor, with a new acting assignment on her to-do list.
“I’m excited. It’s going to be a new concept. It’s exciting naman. There are also movies being discussed right now. Pero syempre gusto ko na exciting siya not just for me but pati na rin sa audience,” she said.
While KC did not have a Valentine’s date, she remains optimistic. “Hopefully, 2016 will be good to me in the love department,” she added.
KC’s love life has always been an open book. Having gone through past relationships, KC hopes to find someone who will be proud of her and their relationship.
“Siguro to really be with someone who will be proud to be with me and ako rin proud to be with him. I would like to explore the world with a special someone,” she said.
KC said that she wants a “good, kind person” who will take care of her heart.
“Kung sino man ang naging special sa akin, I guess hindi ako nagkulang ng pag-express sa kanila ng pagmamahal ko. Pero I would like to be in a relationship kasi na hindi tinatago, hindi secret. I really would love to express myself freely,” she said.
Talking about her perfume endorsement with Natural Looks, KC said that a woman who smells good is attractive to men.
“Ang maganda sa Natural Looks na hindi available sa ibang brands, ’yung body spray kasi pwede mo siya i-spray ng mas madalas during the day. Pero meron din siyang perfume na naka-glass na long-lasting. Meron ding line na you can keep sa pocket mo. It has to suit your personality. If you’re feminine, you have to wear a floral one. If you’re athletic, you can go for the musky one. As long as you smell fresh, it’s attractive,” she said.
As a celebrity, KC knows the responsibility she carries, especially when it comes to words and actions. Many celebrities have expressed their disappointment over boxing champ and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao’s sentiments against same-sex marriage. KC hopes that Manny and the LGBT community would be able to resolve the issue.
“I feel for my LGBT friends at mahal na mahal ko sila at napakabuti nilang tao sa akin at sa mga pamilya at kaibigan nila. It’s an honest mistake sa part ni kuya Manny at marami na rin siyang nagawa para sa ating mga Pinoy. He’s human after all. Even super heroes can be humans. I can’t forget as a Pinoy, tina-try ko hindi kalimutan ’yung ginawa din niya para sa bansa natin,” she related.
“I have loved ones in the LGBT community who have their own feelings about it. Siguro sa akin, nag-apologize naman na si kuya Manny. I will try to remember na lang what he did for our country na naging proud din naman tayo… Hopefully maging okay na rin si kuya Manny with the LGBT (community) dahil marami din naman siyang fans doon na sumuporta sa kanya.” (MNS)
