ANGELES CITY (Mabuhay) – Answering the calls of local officials, Vice President Jejomar Binay has vowed to maximize the Clark International Airport.
Binay believed the airport was not being used much because of its link to former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“E ito ho kasi ang pangalan ng airport niyo dito ay Diosdado Macapagal (International Airport),” he said, referring to the 9th Philippine president and father of Mrs. Arroyo.
Clark International Airport was named DMIA during the time of Mrs. Arroyo but it was reverted to CIA during the term of President Benigno Aquino III.
Binay believed the airport was not maximized because the Aquino administration is angry with the former Philippine leader.
“Malungkot po ito e. Sa parte ng pamamahala , dapat yung pamamahala e isasantabi mo yung galit, isasantabi mo yung emosyon,” he said.
Binay said such is not a good administration strategy and he will stop it if elected president.
“Tama na. Gusto ko po ang aking administrasyon is a healing and unifying administration. Tama na po yan at maling pamamahala yan,” he said.
He noted that Clark Airport was not being utilized amid the air traffic problem at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
“Ako nakaranas 45 minuto na umikot ang eroplano namin gayung itong Clark underused,” he said.
“Sabagay itong administrasyon na ito, guilty of underuse and underspending. Andaming pagkakataong sayang na sayang ito,” he added.
Binay also said that he studied urban planning and he believes one of the solutions to the traffic problem in the metro is building community in sub-urban areas.
Binay said the billions of pesos used for the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference should have been utilized to build new communities.
(MNS)
