Gabby to daughter KC: Listen to your heart, heed instinct

Gabby Concepcion (MNS Photo) Gabby Concepcion has never been the type to intrude on her daughter KC Concepcion’s love life and he’s not about to change his stand. The subject was brought up at a recent press conference wherein Gabby was asked to comment on news that KC is back on the dating game months after her reported breakup with actor Paulo Avelino. Apparently, Gabby and KC rarely talk about her love life whenever they’re together. “Adult naman na siya at sa buhay naman ng isang tao ay dumarating na siya na ang magde-decide kung ano gusto niya,” he said. What’s more important to him is for KC to find someone who will appreciate her even behind the cameras. “But I will always be there sa mga bagay na ginagawa niya at kung ano ang paniniwala niya,” Gabby added. The actor said he’s always told KC to not just listen to her heart when it comes to love. “Use your mind also and, basically, follow your feelings, your instinct,” he said. Gabby also addressed the reported issue between KC and her mom Sharon Cuneta. Recall that in June, Sharon expressed frustration over a sexy photo of KC, saying she is hurt every time she sees her daughter in daring pictorials. “Personally, open-minded naman ako sa arts and all that,” Gabby said. “Siguro kung bata pa siya eh, makikialam talaga ako.” He believes KC knows what she is doing. “Sa tingin ko hindi naman siya nakakasakit ng tao. Kanya-kanyang paniniwala ‘yan Read More …

Estrada can’t replace Binay, Poe, says election lawyer

Vice President Jejomar Binay (left) huddles with Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada (center) and United Nationalist Alliance spokesperson Toby Tiangco during a visit to the Manila City Hall on Wednesday. Binay and Estrada were mum on the agenda of the meeting. (MNS Photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) – Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada cannot be a substitute for both Senator Grace Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay if both will be disqualified to run for President, election law expert Atty. Romulo Macalintal said in a statement Thursday. Binay has been ordered criminally charged by the Office of the Ombudsman for his involvement in the overpriced construction of the Makati Parking Building. However, the case will be filed only once his term ends. Poe, on the other hand, is facing disqualification case before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET). Presidential aspirant Rizalito David, in his complaint, said Poe, adopted daughter of celebrity couple Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces, is not a natural-born citizen considering that she is a foundling, a child with no known parent. Being a natural-born citizen is one of the qualifications to run for higher office. Macalintal said Poe is an independent candidate who cannot be substituted. “Section 19 of Comelec resolution 9984 provides ‘No substitution shall be allowed for any independent candidate’,” Macalintal said. On the other hand, Macalintal said Binay was nominated by the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and can only be replaced by an UNA member. “Estrada is a member of PMP (Partido ng Masang Pilipino), hence, cannot sub Read More …

Robredo said she is honored that she was even considered by the Liberal Party (LP) as its vice presidential bet despite her initial reluctance to run. “It’s still a privilege and honor to be considered for this post. All those who have been considered have been preparing for a national post for a very long time. Ako lang yata ‘yung walang ganoong preparation,” the Camarines Sur representative said. “I always believe in fate, that everything will fall into place eventually if it is meant to be. It doesn’t really matter if I was the second choice or the last choice. ‘Yung pakiramdam na we have obligations bigger than ourselves, hindi mo na maiisip kung pang-ilang choice ka.” The LP initially considered presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos as Roxas’ running mate before finally pursuing Robredo. Robredo also admitted that she would have to double her efforts to boost her Read More …

Marjorie talks about ties with Claudine, Gretchen

Marjorie Barretto (MNS Photo) Marjorie Barretto and sister Claudine are making their respective showbiz comebacks almost at the same time. Claudine is currently working on the Star Cinema movie “Etiqutte for Mistresses” which also stars Kris Aquino, Kim Chiu, Iza Calzado and Cheena Crab, while Marjorie is busy taping for a series headlined by Jasmine Curtis-Smith. “Nagkataon [na halos sabay kami]. You know, I’m genuinely happy for Claudine. You see, her spirits are very high and talaga namang what a waste kung hindi siya magbalik sa industriya,” Marjorie said. The feeling, it turns out, is mutual. In fact, Claudine gave Marjorie a gift before she started taping for her first showbiz project in 10 years. “She is very supportive. Niregaluhan pa nga niya ako ng chair na magagamit ko sa taping na puwede ring gawing bed. One time sabi niya, ‘Open the door.’ I was in my room, ‘yung kwarto ko buksan ko daw ‘yung pintuan. Sabi ko why and she said, ‘Basta buksan mo lang.’ Pagbukas ko, nandu’n na ‘yung taping chair ko,” she said. Claudine Barretto (MNS Photo) “Kasi siyempre, ang tagal kong walang work so wala akong gamit pang-taping talaga. Pagbukas ko ng door, nandoon na ‘yung taping chair na gustung-gusto ko. Tapos sabi niya, ‘Para you remember me while you work,’” she added. Things are indeed back to normal between the two sisters after being estranged with each other for years. “We are really okay. Of course, hindi maiiwasan na nagkaroon ng konting ilangan before noong Read More …
