Daniel Matsunaga, Erich had prenup shoot in Bali?

Erich Gonzales and Daniel Matsunaga (MNS photo) Celebrity couple Daniel Matsunaga and Erich Gonzales denied that their pictures in Indonesia were actually from their prenuptial photo shoot. Fans of the lead stars of the upcoming series “Be My Lady” believe that the two had a prenup shoot in the tourist island of Bali. The couple posted photos of their recent trip in their respective Instagram pages around five weeks ago. “’Yung pictures na ‘yan ay dahil sa birthday ko. Sobrang maganda ‘yung lugar doon and nag-enjoy kami. Super short ‘yung holiday namin,” said Matsunaga, who turned 27 on November 28. “Katulad po ng sinabi niya hindi po ‘yon prenup. Siguro nagkataon lang kasi maganda po ‘yung scenery, maganda ‘yung background. We don’t want to rush something that we want to last forever. Ngayon, we’re just taking our time,” Gonzales said, stressing that their main focus now is “Be My Lady,” which started airing last January 18. “Hindi po lahat ng tao ay nabibigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon and sobra po kaming grateful sa management at sa lahat po dito. Masasabi ko na itong ‘Be My Lady’ ay pinaghirapan ng lahat at worth it lahat ng puyat at pagod dito,” she said. The two believe that the wedding will happen in God’s time. “Sobrang busy kami sa schedule namin pero mahal na mahal ko siya. Let’s wait for the right time. God really has his own time. I waited for three years for this relationship. Why not wait for a little bit Read More …

Meet the talented daughter of Jessa, Dingdong

Jayda Zaragosa-Avanzado (MNS photo) With hitmakers for parents, there is a lot of pressure on the shoulders of young singer Jayda Zaragosa-Avanzado. The 12-year-old girl is a daughter of OPM singers Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado. According to her, being the daughter of two hit makers makes people expect more from her. “There is a certain amount of pressure, like with people whose expectations of me are quite high. But it’s what motivates me to strive harder to hone my skills,” she said. The young singer admitted that she is still developing her own style by learning from other artists, including her mom and dad. “I am actually on the process of developing it [style], but I am adding a few things like a bit of Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, my mom, my dad,” she said. She, clarified, however that she puts a lot of importance on uniqueness because “that’s what makes you an artist.” She also believes that having a good voice is not the only prerequisite to becoming a good performer. “To me, I don’t think a good voice is enough. You have to have passion, you have to have a rapport with the audience,” she said. “You can be a singer, but being a performer is something different. And that’s something I want to do.” (MNS)

Facelifted Ferrari FF to get February debut

The current Ferrari FF is a supercar for all the family. ©Ferrari (Relaxnews) – If you are an existing Ferrari client then you will have received an official invitation to a special event on February 15 that promises to show you a “Whole New World.” The current FF is Ferrari’s family car: a true four-seat load-lugger with iPads in the back to keep the kids distracted and a huge 651bhp 6.3-liter V12 at the front to keep the driver more than happy. It can drag a family from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and onto a top speed of 208mph (335km/h). It’s also got a very clever four-wheel drive system so that more of that power can be used on the road, rather than simply on the track. And, more importantly, so that the car lends itself even more to being a classic European GT, one that can as confidently navigate snowy mountain passes as easily as it can sun-soaked Rivieras. However, after five years in production it’s starting to show its age  — even if it was the world’s first car to officially come with Apple’s CarPlay — and the new model is expected to keep the overall hatchback shape but with sharper lines and updated detailing that will bring it in line with the new 488 GTB and California T. And, now that the company has launched an even more potent version of its F12 Berlinetta, the tdf, which offers a staggering 780hp on tap without help from turbochargers Read More …

Time is running out

The Supreme Court should act immediately on the disqualification case against presidential bet, Senator Grace Poe Llamanzares, to avert possible political unrest in the Philippines With little time left before the final printing of the ballots for the May 16 elections, the Supreme Court, known for taking its time in deciding high profile cases, appears to be unperturbed from a possible scenario wherein a disqualified presidential candidate could win in the elections. This will provoke a sense of frustration and anger among the people, particularly the supporters of Grace Poe, in the event she wins and later on disqualified by the Supreme Court before she could be sworn into office. This could also spark a series of street demonstrations and public indignations all over the country, and as a result, might compel the government or Congress to declare that there was a failure of election. Who would then be the duly elected president? Is it going to be the duly elected Vice President? What happens when the losing presidential candidate in second place files a protest contending that he should be the one who should be installed as president since the winning candidate’s election was declared null and void by the Supreme Court. To avoid all these possible scenarios, the Supreme Court Justices should heed the advice of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to speed the completion of all oral arguments so that the disqualification case of Llamanzares would be decided before the scheduled printing of ballots and avoid what Read More …

Regine returns to acting

Regine Velasquez-Alcasid (MNS photo) Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is welcoming the New Year with an acting comeback. The singer-actress stopped accepting acting projects when she got pregnant with son Nate in 2011. Her last acting stint was for the series “I Heart You, Pare” that aired the same year. For four years, Regine simply focused on being a mother. Thankfully, the Kapuso network understood her situation. “Importante ’yun sa akin na nabigyan ako ng kaunting time to be with him (Nate)… na talagang hindi ako masyadong nabigyan ng maraming (work) load, na-appreciate ko ’yun,” she said. Now, Regine is ready to take her career to a whole new level and recently signed another two-year exclusive TV contract with GMA Network Inc., her home for almost two decades. She is starting off the year with a new TV series set to air in February. Regine is excited for her “buena mano” project. The 45-year-old singer looks forward to doing the show because she gets to play a character far different from her perky and jovial personality. “I’m more effective sa mga character-driven roles… Sometimes it’s harder pa to play ’yung medyo malapit sa (personality mo) eh kasi it’s confusing and hindi mo masyadong malaro unlike ’yung totally different from you,” she said. GMA is also cooking up a weekly musical, variety, and comedy show for the Songbird. “I think may mga gags, may mga skits… Du’n mo naman makikita ’yung side ko na nakakatawa,” she said. Regine maintained she will be involved in Read More …

President Benigno S. Aquino III is received by DOT Secretary RamonJimenez, Jr, heads of International Tourism Organizations, and by members of the diplomatic corps upon arrival at the Philippine InternationalConvention Center for the opening ceremony of theASEAN Tourism Forum. (MNS photo) MANILA  (Mabuhay) – President Benigno S. Aquino III on Wednesday enjoined the participants of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Tourism Forum (ATF) 2016 to work together and share experiences to enhance the region’s tourism sector. Like the Philippines, tourism is also a major industry in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, which lead the pack when it comes to attracting tourists, President Aquino said during the opening of the ATF 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center. “We belong to a region that holds vast potentials in terms of tourism,” he said, noting that 2014 saw tourist arrivals in ASEAN reaching 105.1 million, a staggering 42.4 percent increase from 73.8 million tourist arrivals in 2010. Of those 105.1 million visitors, he said, 49.22 million came from within the ASEAN itself. “The strong interest that our peoples had in visiting each other’s countries highlights a potential to accelerate the growth of intra-ASEAN tourism, which redounds to all our benefits; not only does it contribute to our respective growth agendas, it also fosters greater understanding and strengthens the ties that bind our people,” the President told the forum participants. He further pointed out that ASEAN integration has made the regional grouping a more attractive destination for visitors from other parts Read More …

If Marcos wins, PHL will be laughingstock of the world: Osmeña

— Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (right) presses hands with admirers during his speaking engagement at the Unibersidad de Manila on Wednesday. Marcos is touring universities to talk about the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), which his committee handles in the Senate. (MNS photo) MANILA  (Mabuhay) — If Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr wins the vice-presidential race in 2016, the Philippines will become the laughingstock of the world, a fellow senator said Thursday. Sen. Sergio Osmeña III, grandson of the late Commonwealth President Sergio Osmeña, was incarcerated for five years during the martial rule of Marcos’ father, the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos. He escaped from a maximum security prison cell in Fort Bonifacio in 1977, along with ABS-CBN’s Eugenio Lopez Jr. Osmeña said he is reminded of the late Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew’s description of the Marcos family in his book “From Third World to First.” “He begins his part on the Philippines this way. ‘Now the Philippines is a completely different story. Nowhere in the world do you see the family of a dictator being allowed back into the country and running for public office.’ Even Lee Kuan Yew couldn’t understand it, so somebody as dumb as me can’t understand it either,” he said. Asked what would be the effect of a Marcos being elected vice-president, Osmeña said: “We will be the laughingstock of the world. I think so.” In his book, Lee described the late President Marcos as “the undisputed boss of all Filipinos.” “Imelda, his wife, had Read More …

Sandiganbayan upholds ruling on putting Renato Corona on trial

Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, with a hep-lock attached to his hand, drinks soda during his impeachment trial at the Senate in Manila May 25, 2012. The Philippines’ top judge returned to the witness stand at his own impeachment trial to deny concealing 45 properties and millions in assets and denounce a case President Benigno Aquino sees as key to rooting out corruption. Corona, chief justice of the 15-member Supreme Court, was installed by Aquino’s predecessor, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who herself faces election fraud and corruption charges. Corona had left the witness stand during his impeachment trial on May 22, 2012 and was hospitalised after his blood sugar dropped sharply according to his lawyers.(MNS Photo) MANILA  (Mabuhay) – The Sandiganbayan Third Division has upheld its earlier ruling finding probable cause to put on trial former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona for perjury and violation of the Code of Conduct for Public Officials in connection with his alleged misdeclaration of assets. In a 28-page resolution promulgated on Wednesday, the anti-graft court junked Corona’s motion for reconsideration seeking to reverse its August 2015 ruling finding grounds to put him on trial for eight counts of perjury under the Revised Penal Code (RPC) and another eight counts of violation of Republic Act No. 6713. The court said Corona, in his motion for reconsideration, failed to present any argument apart from those he had already raised in his motion for judicial determination of probable cause. The court denied the motion on August Read More …
