Dr. Ramon Geluz shows creative genius anew in ‘The Life of St. John the Baptist’ Musical

Research found out that artists “have structurally different brains compared with non-artists’ and brain scans of the participants revealed that “artists had increased neural matter in areas relating to fine motor movements and visual imagery”. The research published in NeuroImage, suggests that an artist’s talent “could be innate” and “training and environmental upbringing also play a crucial role in their ability”. Nature and nurture came to fore in the Belgium-based research with authors reporting of “training and environmental upbringing playing crucial roles in their ability’. Segue to multi-awarded artists Dr. Ramon Geluz whose artistry embodies the substance of the research. Palace trusts Congress to do what’s right

President Benigno S. Aquino III delivers his speech during the nauguration of Ciudad de Victoria (City of Victory) in Bocaue, Bulacan on Monday (July 21). Ciudad de Victoria is a 50-hectare tourism enterprise zone established by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in time for its centennial celebration on Sunday (July 27). (MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) – Malacanang on Tuesday said it trusted congressmen to decide on what must be done with the impeachment complaints filed against President Benigno Aquino III although it admitted that the decision of the lawmakers would ultimately be a numbers game. “Hindi maikakaila na mahalaga ang numero dito dahil sa kahuli-hulihan magbobotahan kung maipapasa o hindi ang impeachment ngunit naniniwala pa rin kami na katotohanan, katuwiran at kapakanan ng mga mamayan ang dapat pairalin,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. told reporters in a briefing at the Palace. (We cannot deny that what is important here is numbers because at the end, the representatives will vote on whether an impeachment complaint should approved but we believe that the truth, justice and the welfare of the people should be prioritized.) Coloma refused, however, to comment on the basis of the complaints, which tackled the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), but merely said the issue has now entered the political arena where legislators, as opposed to justices, will have the last say. Coloma was reacting to the two impeachment complaints filed against the president questioning the DAP this week at the House of Representatives, which is dominated by Aquino allies. Read More …

Dennis Trillo meets with hitmen

Dennis Trillo (MNS Photo) Dennis Trillo always researches on his roles and this time, work has prompted him to see killers. The actor claims to have spoken with members of a hit squad for them to serve as study for his role in the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival official entry “The Janitor” where he plays Crisanto Espina, an ex-cop who hunts down suspects of a bank robbery. The story was inspired by the Cabuyao bank robbery-massacre in 2008, touted as the “Philippines’ bloodiest bank robbery.” “Surreal ’yung pakiramdam dahil kaharap mo, marami nang napatay na mga tao. Suwerte lang at naka-tiyempo kami ng mga taong ganon dahil hindi ko akalain na mangyayari na makakakapag-usap ako sa mga nakawala,” he said. Dennis and director Mike Tuviera met with the men in an empty, dark room where no communication device was allowed. He was surprised to see that not all assassins are physically threatening guys. “Nu’ng umpisa medyo kinakabahan kami ni direk pero nu’ng nakaharap na namin sila, para lang silang normal na tao na hindi mo aakalin na ganon ’yung trabaho na ginagawa nila. Maayos silang kausap, edukado sila.” The actor was told that the hit men only kill people involved in heinous crimes. To them, Dennis said, it’s simply a job. Dennis was eager to do “The Janitor” because he wanted a role far different from the sweet gay character he played on hit series “My Husband’s Lover.” “Gusto ko iba-iba ’yung nakikita sa akin every project,” he said. Aquino uses Mabini’s principles to justify DAP

President Benigno S. Aquino III, accompanied by Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and AFP Chief Emmanuel Bautista, tour the Asian Defense, Security and Crisis Management Exhibition 2014 held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on Thursday (July 17). (MNS photo) TANAUAN CITY, Batangas (Mabuhay) – President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday used principles from Filipino hero Apolinario Mabini, whose 150th birth anniversary is being commemorated here, to justify his administration’s Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP). In a speech to commemorate the hero’s sesquicentennial, Aquino said Mabini himself pushed for a proactive executive branch before the Malolos Congress, the legislature of the First Philippine Republic founded in 1898. “Sa harap ng Malolos Congress, idiniin ni Mabini ang pangangailangan ng ehekutibong maging mabilis, maliksi, at buo ang loob, dahil trabaho nitong matugunan ang pangangailangan ng taumbayan sa lalong madaling panahon,” the President said. He added that Mabini wanted flexibility for the executive to implement programs to help the public. “Ang mga institusyong pampubliko para sa kapakanan ng taumbayan; kung ganoon, hindi marapat na ang mismong mga sistemang panggobyerno ang pipigil sa paghahatid ng benepisyo,” Aquino said. The President also highlighted Mabini’s anti-corruption principle, which he said is still applicable to the government at present. “Si Mabini rin po ang nagpunla ng konsepto ng serbisyong pampubliko sa ating pambansang kamalayan. Ang paniniwala niya: Kung sa taumbayan nagbubukal ang kapangyarihan, dapat lang itong gamitin sa ikabubuti nila… Iginiit ni Mabini: Walang sinumang may karapatang pagkakitaan ang kanyang posisyon sa pamahalaan,” Earlier this month, the SC Read More …
