Photo: Chris Farina / Top Rank MANILA, May 4 (Mabuhay) – Filipino boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao expressed his disappointment at the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) after he was denied an injection inside the locker room that could have numbed the pain in his injured right shoulder. Pacquiao lost a unanimous decision to American superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their “Fight of the Century” on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (Sunday in Manila), but afterwards, he revealed that he fought despite having an injury in his right shoulder. “Ayoko namang gawing malaking isyu ‘yung balikat ko kasi baka sabihin nag-dahilan ako,” Pacquiao told reporters Monday. Pacquiao revealed that he injured his shoulder three weeks before the fight, and was initially advised by his doctor to rest for 30 to 40 days. “Eh three weeks before the fight na lang,” he said. “So sabi ng doctor, para magamit sa fight, kailangan ‘wag mo gamitin sa training para gumaling, and then, sa fight, yung mag-injection na lang ng pang-numb para hindi ma-feel ‘yung sakit.” Pacquiao stressed that the shot he was set to receive on fight night was not a steroid and legal in Las Vegas. Audi’s smarter way to own a car

Audi on demand. ©Audi “Audi on demand” is an app-based concierge service set to go live this week in San Francisco that gives users the chance to book the use of any car in the company’s current range for up to a month. The system, which will see anything from an A4 sedan to the latest R8 supercar delivered to a user’s door and then collected again when the rental period is over, is the latest exploration by a car company into alternative ways of offering personal mobility. The industry may have been very slow to react to concerns regarding the environment and the sustainability of fossil fuels, but now that it is alive to these issues it is very quickly making up for lost time. The issue that Audi is trying to address, in a suitably premium way, is that people need different types of cars for different reasons. “The service is rooted in customization, personalization and having the right car for the right moment,” said Mark Del Rosso, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “Audi on demand delivers a truly premium experience, with concierges personally delivering and returning vehicles for customers where and when they need them.” With this in mind, users will be able to not only specify an exact vehicle – the picture shown in the app will be the car (down to the color) that will be delivered – but will also be able to add things like child seats or Read More …

They were given at random an apple, a cookie or nothing at all as they arrived at the grocery store. Tracking their purchases, the researchers concluded that those who had eaten an apple bought 28 percent more fruits and vegetables than those who had consumed a cookie and 25 percent more fruits and vegetables than those who were not given a snack. In the second experiment, 56 participants who were given either a real cookie or a real apple to eat and then shown 20 images containing two products each. They were asked to select which one they would purchase and each image featured one healthy item and one unhealthy item, calorie count being the distinguishing factor.
