How Daniel, Erich balance work, relationship

Erich Gonzales (MNS photo) Erich Gonzales admitted that she was initially worried about starring with boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga on the ABS-CBN daytime series “Be My Lady” since this means being together almost all the time. “First time ko makatrabaho ang karelasyon ko so parang iniisip ko na baka hindi mag-work kasi siyempre iba ang personal life sa trabaho,” she said. But it seems she has nothing to worry about. “Everything is going well. Mas nakikilala po namin ang isa’t isa and we get to spend more time with each other. We make more memories,” she said. In fact, Matsunaga shared that they haven’t had any major fight since they officially became together last year. “Narinig namin from friends na it’s really hard to have a relationship and a show at the same time. Well, I guess, God is really good. He is really at the center of our relationship. Lahat ng opportunities na binigay sa amin, we are doing good. It’s such a blessing because we are getting to know each other better and better and we are going stronger,” he said. Daniel Matsunaga (MNS photo) But in case they encounter misunderstandings in the future, the two said they promised to resolve things immediately so as not to affect their work. “I guess, just by talking and understanding each other, [we can resolve things]. Trust is important as well,” said Matsunaga. Meanwhile, Matsunaga and Gonzales shared that they recently marked their first anniversary as a couple. Asked how they celebrated Read More …

The countdown has started and taxpayers have barely 4 days before the last day for filing the final adjustment return otherwise known as the Annual Income Tax Return for the taxable year ended December 31, 2015. Specifically, corporate taxpayers are required to file a final adjustment return covering the taxable income for the preceding calendar year on or before the 15th day of April and, likewise, to pay the income tax due thereon at the time the declaration or return is filed in accordance with the provisions of Section 76 and 77 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 (Tax Code), as amended.

One of the most difficult aspects in closing a deal — whether the deal is an acquisition, divestment, or merger — is the valuation of the target asset. A key point in a deal is to agree to the amount to be exchanged for the asset between a willing buyer and seller in an arm’s length transaction. The difference between the buyer’s value expectations and the seller’s value expectations is called the valuation gap, which, as reported in the recent EY Global Capital Confidence Barometer, is expected by most executives to widen in the current business environment. The report indicates, however, that the gap is only 10% to 25% and is expected to remain stable in the future. The same holds true for expectations on asset prices. The factors indicate that conditions are more conducive for deal making, which is consistent with the expectation of almost half of the surveyed executives that more deals will be closed in the foreseeable future.

Will this be the last one for Manny?

Will Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao end his illustrious boxing career with a big bang or will he fall flat on his face in the canvas? We will know the answer this Saturday when Pacquiao and his one-time “conqueror”, Timothy Bradley, square off at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao gave assurances that he will try to end his career with a knockout win against Bradley. The boxer from Palm Springs, however, has never been stopped in all his fights since he became a professional boxer. Millions of Filipinos around the globe are expected to take time out from their usual busy schedules to watch Pacquiao, perhaps for the last time, showcase his boxing skills inside the ring for 12 rounds against Bradley. Pacquiao is expected to hang up his gloves after the fight with Bradley. This is Pacquiao’s 66th career fight since he turned pro in boxing. Out of 66 fights, Pacquiao won 57 times, 38 of them either by knockout or TKO. The boxer from the province of Sarangani has been known as an explosive fighter, capable of throwing dozens of punches in combinations from all angles. I have doubts regarding Pacquiao’s retirement announcement from boxing. I am sure that if he wins against Bradley either by knockout of TKO, he will fight again, maybe, two more before he finally hangs up his gloves for good. With all the money he has made throughout his boxing career, I see no reason for him to go back to the ring. Read More …

Coleen recalls hardships before getting big break

Coleen Garcia (MNS photo) Before becoming one of the most talked about celebrities today, Coleen Garcia had to go through a lot of hardships. In an interview, Garcia addressed misconceptions by some people that life has always been easy for her. “It’s because I’m mestiza… That’s really all it is. ‘Pag maputi ka, mayaman ka. Alam mo ‘yun?” she said, noting Filipinos’ common notion of fair-skinned people like her. She shared some of her struggles growing up, from acting as a co-parent to her two younger brothers at age nine after her parents separated, to fending for herself without a diploma or a steady job at 19 years old. Her savings from her modeling and showbiz gigs covered the rent of her apartment which, she said, had no furniture and air conditioning. So, she slept on the floor. She took a cab from Quezon City to Alabang during her hosting stints without any personal assistant, and even had a distressing experience with dubious drivers. “I said [to myself], ‘you know what, God will provide for me. God will take me wherever I’m meant to be,” she said, recalling her hardships. Three months later, Garcia became a regular host on “It’s Showtime,” and eventually entered into a relationship with co-host Billy Crawford. While she had a stable job, her name was always dragged into controversy. Fans were saying she is the reason behind the breakup of Crawford and his then girlfriend of five years, singer Nikki Gil, who is now married Read More …

Don’t look at us, Palace tells Marcos on plunder raps

President Benigno S. Aquino III welcomes Hon. Jesus Gracia, Secretary of State Latin America Affairs and International Development Cooperation and Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez along with the Organizers and Officers of the Madrid Fusion 2016. Event organizers paid a courtesy call on President Aquino Wednesday in Malacañan Palace. (MNS photo) MANILA  (Mabuhay) – Malacañang on Thursday belied Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s claim that the Aquino administration is behind the plunder charges against him over his alleged involvement on the multi-billion pork barrel scam. In a statement, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. said Marcos should just respond to the complaint in the proper forum. “Contrary to the claims of Senator Marcos, Government has no involvement in the reported case for plunder filed against him by an anti-corruption group,” Coloma said. “If the good senator strongly believes that he has nothing to do with the charges leveled against him, it is best that he respond in the proper forum,” he added. Marcos, who is running for vice president, said the Aquino administration had a hand in the plunder complaint filed against him before the Office of the Ombudsman by an anti-corruption group calling itself as iBalik ang Bilyones ng Mamayan (iBBM). Marcos said he was no longer surprised with the filing of the complaint as “the present administration has a long-standing tradition of selective justice.” “Yun na nga ang problema sa atin. Everything is all about politics. Yung justice natin nagiging pulitika na rin. Iyan naman ang ginagawa, kapag hindi ka Read More …
