On Sunday, October 19th at the festive UCLA Scholarship Fall Reception, UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association’s name was dedicated onto the new UCLA Alumni Scholarship Endowments wall at the UCLA James West Alumni Center.  “This is a great day for the UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association to have their name on this newly dedicated wall that promotes the university and the endowments that assist deserving students with obtaining a world-class education at UCLA, including UCLA Pilipino Alumni’s Endowment.  The UCLA PAA Endowment is a key component that is utilized to continually award UCLA Pilipino Alumni scholarships” said Bobby T. Rimas, UCLA Pilipino Alumni’s Scholarship Director.  Scholarship Director Rimas oversees the UCLA Pilipino Alumni Scholarship Committee who is responsible for developing the selection criteria, coordinating the logistics of scholarship awards, collecting scholarship donations, and selecting award recipients.

The UCLA Scholarship Fall Reception included speeches that reflect the importance of scholarships, a great violin performance, and UCLA cheerleaders leading the UCLA 8-clap.  Scholarship Director Rimas also indicated that “It is quite fitting that there is also a famous quote by Benjamin Franklin on the newly dedicated UCLA Alumni Scholarship Endowments wall that sums up some of the importance of scholarship giving, ‘An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.’  I wholeheartedly agree.”
