MANILA, Dec 1 (Mabuhay) – Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Thursday the “higher official” who called him to reinstate to Supt. Marvin Marcos was his “kumpare.”
Dela Rosa, however, did not name the person.
“Kumpare, kumpare ko lang dyan. Basta kumpare ko lang,” the PNP chief said when pressed on the matter during a press conference at Camp Crame.
“Nakiusap lang na tumawag sa kanila yung grupo ni Marcos at nagpatulong kung pwedeng hindi sila ma-relieve dahil kawawa yung pamilyang maiiwan. Marami silang ma-transfer dito sa Crame,” he added.
Dela Rosa did not express regret on his decision to reinstate Marcos.
“Yes tama (ang desisyon) kasi yung tumawag naman sa akin e nagsabi na ‘’Pre yung grupo ni Marcos napapatulong na kawawa iyong pamilya nila kung maiwan doon, matanggal sila doon at mapunta dito sa Crame so baka pwede mong mareconsider yung decision mo na tanggalin sila doon,”’ he recalled the conversation.
“Sabi ko yes walang problema, for humanitarian purposes, I’m willing to do it,” he added.
He said he is ready to accept whatever the reaction of the public on his decision.
“Wala naman akong nakikitang problema na dalhin sila doon so that’s my decision. I may be hounded, I may be praised for that decision, tanggapin ko lahat. That’s my own decision, my own volition to reinstate them,” he said. (MNS)
