MANILA (Mabuhay) — Isabela Rep. Rodolfo “Rodito” Albano III on Tuesday said that the Napoles multi-billion peso scam has become a ludicrous, wacky and bizarre news serial already as more and more people claim to have the “authentic” list of wrong-doers.
Albano bewailed the recent developments on the Napoles pork barrel scam which involves billions of pesos in congressional pork barrel funds allegedly lost to ghost projects.
“Instead of getting to the bottom of the truth, things have been muddled and have become more complicated as events unfold by the day,” Albano, member of the House Minority Bloc, said.
“Lahat na lang nagsasabi na may listahan. Si Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, si former Sen. Panfilo Lacson, even whistleblower Sandra Cam – they are all trying to muddle the issue. Hindi na natin alam kung alin talaga ang tunay na listahan,” Albano added.
Since anybody could claim that they have the so-called ‘Napoles list,’ Albano stressed the need for a credible and competent group of experts to determine the authenticity of the controversial list.
Turning mock-serious, Albano said: “It’s about time that we engaged the services of the authentication and valuation experts of the TV show “Pawn Stars” of the History channel to determine the authenticity and value of the so-called Napoles list.
“Once we get expert authentication and valuation, we decide whether to sell, pawn it or keep it as public document –an ignominious piece of memorabilia for public exhibition,” said Albano, head of the House contingent Minority Bloc of the Commission on Appointments.
Meanwhile, Albano advised the government not to get hooked on the Napoles issue.
Instead, Albano said, it should focus on gut issues and other pressing problems like the escalating cost of electricity in the country, the crippling power shortage in Mindanao, huge unemployment rate and other serious problems that are bedeviling the Filipino people. (MNS)
