MANILA (Mabuhay) — President Jejomar Binay has said he will continue his grassroots campaign nationwide following the release of Social Weather Stations survey on Tuesday night, where he is almost tied with Sen. Grace Poe.
“The elections will be a battle for every single vote and the Vice President will continue to personally meet with the people around the country,” said Rico Quicho, Binay’s spokesperson for political affairs, in a statement.
Quicho added that the results of the SWS survey “will inspire the Vice President and his core supporters to work harder and not to be overconfident”
The SWS survey was published by Businessworld late Tuesday. The survey was conducted September 2 to 5 among 1,200 respondents, of which 96 percent were registered voters.
The respondents were given a list of 12 names, in alphabetical order with nicknames included, and were asked: “Among the names found in this list, who will you probably vote for as president of the Philippines if elections were held today?”
The result showed that Poe was picked by 26 percent of the registered voters, 24 percent chose Binay, and 20 percent chose Roxas. The report said the three candidates were statistically tied.
The survey has a sampling error margin of ±3 percentage points.
On Monday, SWS released a “top-of-mind” preseidential preference survey, where Poe led with 47 percent.
Former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas surged to second place with 39 percent while Binay slid to third with 35 percent in the survey.
The 1, 200 respondents in this survey, which was also conducted from September 2 to 5, were asked go provide three names of leaders who they think are best to succeed President Benigno Aquino III in 2016. (MNS)
