Int’l complaint vs Pemberton eyed if acquitted — lawyer

(MNS photo) MANILA, Oct 21 (Mabuhay) — A lawyer of the Laude family believes an international criminal complaint may be filed against US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton if he is acquitted here in the Philippines for the killing of transgender Jennifer Laude. Virgie Suarez, the legal counsel of the Laude family, said filing a new case against Pemberton before an international body could happen if he is acquitted by the local court hearing his murder case. ”Of course, we are also thinking about that. I cannot discuss it yet here but yes, there is still a way how to run after Pemberton. That would mean an international case, complaint,” Suarez said. Suarez said the Olongapo Regional Trial Court branch hearing the Laude murder case has until December 14 year to meet the one-year prescriptive period set forth in the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA). ”We will be informed if the court will be able to resolve it earlier than December 14. Ombudsman files graft charges vs. PNP officials in AK-47 scam

Raul Petrasanta. The graft raps are in connection with the alleged the anomalous issuance of firearms licenses for high-powered AK47 rifles from August 2011 to  April 2013. As the weather improved three days after the onslaught of Typhoon Lando (Koppu), officials were also counting the cost of ruined crops and drowned livestock from heavy rain that flowed into the vast farming regions north of Manila. “Although the water is still flowing downstream, it has started to subside in some areas,” Mahar Lagmay, director of a government project to mitigate the impact of natural disasters in the Philippines, said. Heavy rains across the mountainous northern Philippines, the cause of most of the flooding in the farming plains, had also eased, according to Lagmay and a local civil defense official. The former interior secretary, whose full name is Manuel Araneta Roxas II, alleged that Manuel Antonio Roxas, if allowed to run, would “confuse voters (who) may unintentionally vote for respondent Manuel Antonio Roxas.” “Respondent Manuel Antonio Roxas clearly filed his COC for President to create confusion among the voters through the similarity between his name and that of petitioner Manuel Araneta Roxas,” the LP stalwart said in his petition before the Comelec. Manuel Antonio Roxas, 67, filed his COC on October 16, 2015 and wrote “Mar Roxas” as his nickname. Expect a ‘different’ Liza, Enrique in new film

Liza Soberano (MNS Photo) Liza Soberano has given a few hints about her role in the upcoming romantic film “Everyday I Love You,” which will also star leading man Enrique Gil. The 17-year-old Soberano shared that she will portraying a more “mature” character and that fans should prepare for a different side of Gil as well. “Yung movie nakakakalahati na po kami. Wala pa akong news kung kailan ipapalabas pero exciting siya kasi ang daming bago, bagong Liza, bagong Enrique na makikita so excited ako,” she said. “It’s also more mature, way more mature kasi ang character ko doon I’ll be portraying a 21-year old,” Soberano, fresh from her role as the teenager Agnes in “Forevermore,” added. In an earlier interview, Soberano described her character as “very romantic” but someone who is willing to wait for love.
