Maria Ozawa calls Robin Padilla ‘unprofessional’

Maria Ozawa (MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) -– Maria Ozawa has called Robin Padilla unprofessional after the actor withdrew from their upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Nilalang.” On Instagram, the Japanese actress wrote, undedited: “Its not that i really wanted to film w/ robin but i think it was so unProfessional of him to call it off 10days before the shooting starts… i feel so sorry for the film director’s,staff..etc.” Padilla pulled out from the film on Tuesday. “I would like to let you know that this decision making process has been very hard as Mr. Padilla’s reputation shows that he has the highest regards for those he commits to work with,” the actor’s manager Betchay Vidanes said in a statement. “His withdrawal is due to the fact of needing to attend to his wife Mariel [Rodriguez], as she is experiencing a delicate pregnancy,” she added. The 31-year-old Rodriguez is currently pregnant with triplets after suffering a miscarriage last March. Despite this, Ozawa wrote in the comments section: “If he knew abt the pregnancy,he should’ve said no from the first place.. feel sorry for the director haveing to find another actor..!!” The film’s cancellation will leave the lineup of the annual film festival one movie short. There are currently two reserve films: the John Lloyd Cruz-starrer “Conman” and “Lakambini,” which features Lovi Poe. As of writing, the Metro Manila Development Authority, which organizes the MMFF, has yet to make a statement regarding the replacement for “Nilalang.” (MNS)

PHL says WWII foe Japan now trusted friend

President Aquino meets with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Asahi-no-Ma Room of the Akasaka State Guest House during the two countries’ summit meeting on Thursday. Aquino called on Japan to form a united front against China’s increasing assertiveness.(MNS Photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) — The Philippines said Saturday it had rebuilt a “strong friendship” with former foe Japan, as its neighbors criticized Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for failing to properly apologize for Tokyo’s aggression during World War II. Since the war, Japan had “acted with compassion” which led to a relationship “characterized by trust and unfailing support in so many fields”, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said in a statement. “This 70-year history demonstrates to the world that through their relentless efforts, peoples of two countries can attain a remarkable achievement in overcoming issues of the past and establishing strong friendship,” he said. Japan is now the Philippines biggest source of development assistance and the two countries have also been strengthening defense cooperation in the face of separate territorial disputes with China. Del Rosario’s comments were in stark contrast to reactions from China other Asian victims of Japan’s wartime aggression. Beijing called Abe’s statement a non-apology while North Korea derided it as an “unpardonable mockery of the Korean people”. South Korean President Park Geun-Hye said the speech “left much to be desired” and stressed the need for Japan to resolve the issue of Asian women forced to work in Japanese wartime brothels. Lessons Rico & Nena Tantoco taught their children on life, love & marriage

Rico Tantoco and Nena Vargas-Tantoco: “And their hearts went boom, when they crossed that room…” Photos by Walter Bollozos One trick in marriage survival is this: Remain hopelessly romantic lovers. Find romance and healing in music. How do you make a marriage last 50 years  with all sweetness intact? One of the best couples to ask for advice on marriage survival would be Rico Tantoco and Nena Vargas-Tantoco. After  seven children, 14 grandchildren, and 50 years of ups and downs, they are still holding hands and exchanging kisses.  Last Saturday, Rico and Nena celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Manila Polo Club in a most romantic , touching yet funny and rock ’n’ rolling way. “My parents are so authentic and down-to-earth, that’s why we chose this ‘Love Rocks’ theme,” explains Donnie Tantoco, the eldest son who conspired with his siblings in preparing this event and keeping it a secret  from their parents at first. But as they would later realize, it would have been hard pulling a surprise on this couple who are such a fun, spontaneous pair capable of planning  instant events  themselves. There is never a dull moment for Rico who is EVP of Sta. Elena Properties, and Nena, who was consultant for many years at the visual merchandising division of Rustan Commercial Corporation. On top of putting together details for this anniv was Katrina Tantoco-Lobregat who had been working on it since September last year. “This is the baby I gave birth to this year,” says Read More …

Jackie Forster ‘tired’ of waiting for Andre, Kobe

Jackie Forster (MNS Photo) “Maybe it’s time to let it go.” These were the words of former actress Jackie Forster when asked if she is willing to wait for Andre and Kobe Paras, her children with basketball star Benjie Paras, to welcome her back into their life. “At this point, I’ve asked for forgiveness for whatever it is,” she said. “If there’s something else bothering them, I’m willing to talk about it.” “But it seems like the doors are closed. Ang dami nang nangyari. Nagkasakit na ‘yung kapatid nila, hindi pa rin lumambot ‘yung puso nila. I feel like tama na,” she continued. Forster revealed early last year that Caleigh, one of her three children with her second husband, was diagnosed with leukemia. “Hanggang saan ako magmamakaawa na pagbigyan nila ako,” Forster said of Andre and Kobe. “Parang mas dapat pagtuunan ko na lang talaga ng pansin ‘yung pamilya ko, yung mga nagmamahal sa akin. ‘Yung mga nagpapakita na kailangan at gusto nila ako sa buhay nila.” Forster said that the two have been raised to think that she “just turned their back and abandoned them” – a claim that she hopes to set straight. “It’s not true…Kahit anong gawin nilang paninira sa akin, wala na eh. Tapos na iyon. Pinagdaanan ko na, pinagdusahan ko na kung ano man ‘yung bintang nila sa akin,” she shared. “I just feel like this is the time that I want them to get to know me and show them that I’m here.
