Palace defends Congressmen who voted to junk Aquino impeach raps

President Benigno S. Aquino III shares the stage with newly sworn in government officials for a photo souvenir after administering the oath in a ceremony at the Rizal Hall of the Malacañan Palace on Monday (September 01). Also in photo are Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II and Supreme Court Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza. (MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) – As far as Malacañang is concerned, congressmen did what they were supposed to do when they junked the impeachment complaints filed against President Benigno Aquino III. “Ang pasya ng komite ng Kamara ay batay sa paninindigan ng higit na nakararami na walang sapat na batayan ang mga paratang laban sa Pangulo,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message. (The decision of the House committee on Justice is based on the stand of the majority that there is no sufficient basis for the accusations against the President.) Coloma added that the petitioners should not stray from the issue at hand by referring to a case still under the Supreme Court. He was reacting to Bagong Alyansang Makabayan’s (Bayan) statement that what happened was an injustice because “Aquino allies who benefited from DAP (Disbursement Acceleration Program) killed the impeachment to defend their pork barrel benefactor.” The justice committee on Tuesday found the three impeachment complaints, two of which tackled the DAP, insufficient in substance. In separate votes, 54 lawmakers dismissed each of the three complaints, and only four voted in favor of the raps. Iloilo Representative Niel Tupas, Read More …

Levito Baligod , the former lawyer of pork scam whistle-blower Benhur Luy, believes his former client has the more credible list of lawmakers implicated in the pork barrel scam of Janet Lim Napoles. He said he made separate lists based on the information, which was then verified by the pork scam whistle-blowers. MANILA (Mabuhay) – Benhur Luy, principal whistleblower in the alleged multi-billion peso pork barrel fund scam, and standing as witness in the bail hearings of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr’s plunder case, has sought the Sandiganbayan’s assistance to block the defense team’s access to his controversial hard drive, which according to him contains documents pertaining lawmakers’ transactions with bogus NGOs. Luy said the defense should only be provided copies of some of the files mentioned in the testimony of the witness from the National Bureau of Investigation’s Cybercrime division. “On the strength of the movant’s constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy, as well as on the ground that the other contents of the said hard drive are irrelevant to the instant case, it is respectfully prayed of this honorable court that the right of the defense in this case to access the contents of the said hard drive be limited only to those matters that are pertinent and relevant to the instant case. The scope of the granted access should only be narrowed down to the files that were the subject of [NBI special investigator III Joey] Narciso’s testimony,” Luy’s motion reads. Sam Milby: I will always love Anne

Sam Milby (MNS photo) Sam Milby clarified his earlier statement that his former girlfriend, Anne Curtis, “will always remain in [his] heart.” This comes after Curtis, his co-star in the comedy film “The Gifted,” was asked if she believes that Milby has already moved on from their past relationship. Milby explained that the reason why he said that is because of the things that they have shared in the past. “I will. I will always love her because we shared something, yung pinagdaanan namin, yung pinagsamahan namin, we shared something. Para sa akin, kapag in love, parang umaasa pa. Ako, I know na happy siya. I’m truly happy for the both of them,” he said, referring to Curtis’ four-year relationship with restaurateur Erwan Heussaff. When asked if he’s already over Curtis, Milby said: “If I were still hoping, I’d still feel kind of… basta I’m happy for them.” Anne Curtis and Sam Milby (MNS Photo) Curtis and Milby became a couple during the first quarter of 2007, but the actress broke up with him later that year to establish her “personal relationship with God.” In 2008, the two admitted that they were exclusively dating again. The two have remained friends since then, with Milby even saying that Curtis is his “deepest love.” Aside from their upcoming movie “The Gifted”, Milby and Curtis also reunited on screen when they both starred in the recently concluded fantasy series “Dyesebel.” (MNS)
