(MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) — Malacañang on Thursday welcomed the reported 6.9 percent growth of the Philippine economy while mentioning the importance of continuing the Aquino administration’s reform work. Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda, in a statement, said the 6.9 percent growth is higher than the gross domestic product of 6.5 percent last quarter and the 5 percent of the 1st quarter of 2015. “Sustaining its growth momentum, government final consumption reached 9.9%, as agencies continued to implement and expand various social protection programs,” he said, citing the government’s basic education program, vaccination campaign and other locally-funded projects. “The NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority) report further states that industry grew by 8.7%, supported by a strong showing from all segments of the industry sector. Services, meanwhile, continued its acceleration to 7.9%, its highest growth since the second quarter of 2013.” he said. Yasay was chosen by incoming President Rodrigo Duterte to head the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). When asked on the foreign policy that the Duterte administration will implement, Yasay said the government will follow the provision of the Constitution. “Alam mo ang foreign policy natin Igan, naka-define yan sa Constitution, sa Saligang Batas at hindi tayo pwedeng mag-deviate dyan,” Yasay said. “We are a free, sovereign and independent state. We carry on an independent national policy and renounce war as an instrument of national policy. Yan ang approach, broad parameters na ating Constitution na talagang kailangan natin ipatupad,” he added. Willie Revillame (MNS Photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) –Willie Revillame has cleared the issue about them allegedly asking payment from audience members before entering the studio. Reports have it that supposedly, 100 audience members from Taguig were made to pay for studio access by a “Wowowin” staff. According to Willie, there was no such thing. “’Wag ho kayo maniniwala na meron kaming staff na nanghihingi ng ganito, na magbibigay kayo ng ganitong pera. Wala po kaming ganoon. Lahat po ng staff namin nandito lang sa loob ng studio. Dito lang kayo i-e-entertain. ’Wag po kayong magbibigay ng kahit magkanong halaga dahil hindi po totoo ’yan. Hindi po namin gagawin ’yun na manghingi ng pera… at hindi ho kami gagawa ng isang bagay na hindi ho tama,” he said. (MNS photo) MANILA  (Mabuhay) – President Benigno Aquino III signed on Wednesday morning Republic Act (RA) 10821 or the Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act which seeks to provide children with comprehensive relief and protection in the aftermath of disasters. The new law mandates the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to formulate a Comprehensive Emergency Program for Children. “The program shall be used as the basis for handling disasters and other emergency situations to protect children, pregnany and lactating mothers, and support their immediate recovery,” it states.
