MANILA  (Mabuhay) – While it welcomes the audit of poll servers sought by Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the camp of leading vice-presidential contender and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo said this should be conducted after the proclamation of the winning candidate.

Congress will resume session on May 23, and will convene as the National Board of Canvassers on May 25. The NBOC is mandated to proclaim the new president and vice president.

Marcos on Wednesday formally asked the Commission on Elections to let “IT experts and programmers” from his team to conduct an audit of the servers used in the May 9 elections.

In a letter filed by his representatives, Marcos said the audit must be done in light of doubts that sprung from the “introduction of a new script” to the transparency server.

“The alteration removed the only security feature of the data by causing the hash codes to change. With the tampering of this sole security feature, how can we be assured that the data has not been altered in other ways or on other occasions?” the senator wrote.

Hernandez said they fear that the Marcos camp is attempting to prolong the canvassing of official election results.

According to Robredo’s camp, as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Robredo still leads the vice-presidential race with 14,414,933 votes or 262,643 votes more than Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who has 14,152,290.(MNS)
