Jollibee Chicken Joy named one of America’s best

Filipino food chain Jollibee has made it to the Top 10 fast food list released by FoodBeast in the United States. Jollibee Chicken Joy [via Instagram] The FoodBeast list of “The Top 10 Fast Food Fried Chicken Joints In The USA” declared Jollibee’s Chicken Joy as supreme saying, “Jollibee is the Filipino fast food chain that's gonna take over the United States because of their BOMB fried chicken.” Writer Constantine Spyrou placed the Filipino favorite fried chicken in the No. 3 spot over other fried chickens: “What makes it stand out beyond the rest, however, is a gravy packed with flavors of onion and celery that is absolutely ethereal. You almost want a whole bucket of the gravy just to dip into the chicken, it's that good. The unique savory notes of that gravy compliment fried chicken in a way that no other fast food chain on this list can replicate, and it's why Jollibee deserves such a high spot on this list.” Jollibee chicken made it to the list of the tastiest fried chicken food chains in America along with other fried chickens with “crispy skin with the tender, delicious meat inside is hard to resist, no matter what chain you go to.” The Filipino food chain has established stores across the world with the most concentration of overseas Filipino migrants like America, Canada, and Italy. Jollibee’s inclusion in the list is based on the travels of the Foodbeast crew, national impact, and overall quality of fried chicken.   Read More …

Is Busyness The Key to Success?

Chinkee Tan One of the most frequently asked questions I received from my speaking engagement is, “How can I become successful in life?” This is a fact: people who are goal-oriented, determined, persevering, skilled, and focused are the ones who achieve the goals they have set for themselves. We all know that these intangibles are essentials if one is to accomplish a certain task, may it be big or small, long-term or short-term. We all get it. These people are so determined and so focused that sometimes we ask ourselves “Don’t these people get a breather?” or “Where do they get all that energy? Wherever they got it, I want one too!” I can tell you with authority because I am speaking based on my personal experience. When I work, it is as if there is no tomorrow! However, although all the “go go go!” and “hoorahs!” are needed to achieve success, it is also important to understand that busyness can be damaging in certain circumstances. While being goal-oriented and being preoccupied almost 24/7 is noteworthy, we should also pause and ask ourselves: when did busyness become a core value? Some people feel that busyness is the new cool. If you have so much in your plate and your schedule is always full with different activities and work-related agendas, we feel that we are actually, and always getting somewhere. But before we praise ourselves for being so preoccupied with so many things, let us stop and ask ourselves a few Read More …

How Cultural Differences Affect Doing Business

Armando Bartolome Technological advancements have brought people closer. It is now possible to reach people across the globe with just a few clicks. People from different parts of the world, coming from different cultural backgrounds, are now working and communicating together. Thus, for many businesses, it is very important for managers and staff to understand cultural diversity.  We need to be sensitive and respectful. We need to understand that what is accepted as normal in one culture may not be acceptable to another. If your business is in a multicultural environment, understanding differences in culture will help you better deal with and motivate your business associates and employees.  DIFFERENCES IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT STYLES Business management styles differ from country to country. A management style which is valued in European countries may be ineffective in the Philippines.  You may have noticed how Filipinos often address their subordinates using their first name which is considered as a normal gesture in the Philippines. But this will be perceived as impolite in European countries.  Many business leaders today share similar values as well as leadership styles. Nevertheless, we should note that management styles differ across countries because of the influence of political changes, the level of mobility, market globalization and the technological progress.  Additionally, management styles also depend on the level of education, economic development, corporate culture and available technology.  The conventional management style may vanish in time as globalization progresses and more and more businesses deal with multiple cultures and countries.
