Giampaolo Della Croce, Bulgari’s high jewelry senior director, at the Greenbelt 4 boutique Photos by JUN MENDOZA Ask Bulgari’s resident gem expert Giampaolo Della Croce what precious stone would suit a Filipino woman best, and, without hesitation, he prescribes: “Diamonds.” “Filipinas are just the right height, not too tall and not too petite, so dangling earrings would suit you, and diamonds bring out the color of your skin,” Della Croce says. Bulgari’s elegant senior director of high jewelry notes that, as it happens, Pinays are indeed fond of buying diamonds. We view it as the ultimate status symbol, and haven’t been fully converted yet to the Bulgari gospel of colored stones. That could change, however, with Bulgari’s latest collection Musa, which is possibly the most stunning collection of colored jewels I’ve ever seen. To mark its 130-year anniversary, the Italian jewelry house has released two high-jewelry collections: “Musa” and “Diva,” the latter of which is sure to appeal to Filipinas because it focuses on diamonds. “Both these jewelry collections are a tribute to feminine beauty; as Mr. Bulgari used to say, ‘Women cannot live without aesthetics,’” Della Croce says. Diva pieces feature an iconic fan shape, which he says was inspired by the design of the ancient Roman mosaics that line the walls, floor and ceiling of the Baths of Caracalla. “From a single pendant, embellished by the sparkle of a lot of diamonds, to a garland of precious elements set with diamonds and colored gems, to clusters of Read More …

CREWE, England – Nine months in to 2014 and Bentley’s aim of having a record breaking year is firmly on track. Global deliveries increased by 19 percent, to 7,786 cars, up from 6,516 cars in the same period in 2013, Bentley’s four key regions, Americas, China, Europe including the UK, and Middle East all saw strong performance, with the Americas retaining its position as Bentley’s number one market, but with China posting strong growth to close the gap. New models drove this international success, with the Continental GT V8 S coupe and convertible and Flying Spur V8 entering the market. Commenting on the results, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Kevin Rose, said: “We said at the start of the year that 2014 would be a record breaking year for Bentley and we are firmly on track to deliver on our promise. Certain markets are tough, as other luxury car brands can testify, but with our three model lines delivering a perfect blend of luxury and performance, alongside the international appeal that we have as a brand, it will ensure 2014 will go down as our best ever year.” Remaining in Bentley’s number one position, the Americas delivered 2,107 cars, 4 percent up on the first nine months of the 2013 performance of 2,022 cars. Bentley’s sales in China remained solid in a less than buoyant market—1,959 cars were delivered in the first nine months of 2014, against 1,264 cars in 2013. A strong German market Read More …

Lessons Learned from Initial Open Enrollment Applied to Major Changes for Upcoming Open Enrollment Nov. 15 to Feb. 15 www.coveredca.com SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Covered California announced it has begun the renewal process for 1.12 million individuals who enrolled in plans in the exchange last year and unveiled substantial new improvements to facilitate enrollment in coverage for 2015. “Last year, we succeeded in signing up millions of Californians in health coverage through Covered California and Medi-Cal,” Covered California Executive Director Peter V. Lee said. “We learned a great deal in the process, and in this second open enrollment we are building on those lessons using effective and concrete changes.” The first wave of renewal notices was sent to consumers on Wednesday. Consumers who complete the renewal process will hear from their insurance plans in December. Their selected health plan will send a statement reflecting coverage starting Jan. 1, 2015. Consumers who take no action will be renewed into their existing plan. Individuals who have health coverage through Medi-Cal renew their coverage throughout the year, on a rolling monthly schedule. Medi-Cal will contact them directly if they need to take action. Unless they are contacted by Medi-Cal, these individuals do not need to go to the Covered California website to renew or apply. Covered California also provided updated enrollment numbers for 2014 on Thursday. Of the Californians who selected a plan during the initial open enrollment, 1,140,000 (or 81 percent) had their coverage take effect by paying their first month’s premium.
