The ability of the Philippines to compete in the world market rests on the ability of its business enterprises to produce quality goods and services in the most efficient and reliable way. Our government recognizes the importance of the work force in achieving this. Accordingly, Republic Act (RA) No. 6971, otherwise known as the “Productivity Incentives Act of 1990,” was made into law with the aim of encouraging higher levels of productivity, while promoting the principle of shared responsibility between workers and employers.
