Anne Curtis (MNS photo) If you tuned in to “It’s Showtime” these past couple of days, then you may have noticed something different about Anne Curtis’ hairstyle. The 30-year-old television host has ditched her normally jet black hair for a bright pink color as she is currently shooting her first music video for her upcoming single “Empire of Pink.” The EDM track, mixed by DJ M.O.D., is part of Curtis’ third studio album under Viva Records following 2011’s “Annebisyosa” and 2014’s The Forbidden Album. “Lazy Sunday but working on my new and very first music video [Empire of Pink]. Can’t wait for you guys to see it!” Curtis wrote on her Instagram last January 7 as the caption to a photo of her sporting her new look. Since the release of her debut album, Curtis, who has admitted to being a “non-singer,” has mounted two major concerts at the Araneta Coliseum: “Annebisyosa: No Other Concert World Tour” and “The Forbidden Concert Annekapal.” (MNS)

(MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) − President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday chided politicians running in the May elections for claiming as personal achievements what his administration has done for the past years. Aquino spoke at the 2016 League of Municipalities of the Philippines general assembly and mayors forum in Pasay City with administration candidates Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo. “Panahon na ng eleksyon, mamimili kayo ng direksyong tutunguhin natin. Alam ko hindi ako nag-iisa pag nakakita tayo ng mga ibang advertisements sa tv, radio, kung saan kanya-kanyang slogan,” said Aquino. “’Yung ibang mga may slogan na ginamit para sa sarili nila, sa totoo lang nagpapasalamat ako dahil araw-araw siguradong may nagbibigay ng katatawanan sa akin. May aangkinin ganito ang kanila,” he added. Aquino urged mayors who attended the event to continue what his administration has started by throwing their support for the Roxas-Robredo tandem. “Hindi yung sinasabing stop and start. Pwede tayong tuloy tuloy, pwede tayong paangat ng paangat sa ating pupuntahan,” he said. “Lahat ng pangako, sa iba baka magkatotoo, pero dito siguradong nagawa na,” Aquino stressed. Aquino, also chairman of the ruling Liberal Party (LP), said local leaders should not risk putting into power a candidate who is only good in making promises. “Baka July 1 sasabihin natin, ‘patay, Read More …
Vice President Jejomar Binay addresses the crowd during United Nationalist Alliance proclamation rally in Mandaluyong on Tuesday. The 90-day campaign period for the May 2016 election officially started Tuesday, with candidates organizing their respective campaign sorties around the country.(MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) − Except for hyperacidity, Vice President Jejomar Binay said Wednesday that he is in a good physical condition to wage a nationwide election campaign. “Kaya ba nila ‘yan, boss?” Binay told reporters while hopping when reporters asked his state of health. Asked what he is doing to remain healthy, the vice president said he is exercising regularly. “Ewan ko, laki naman ako sa hirap e. Yung iba dyan kung kelan matanda na saka nila naisip na mag-exercise, batak ako sa trabaho,” he said. He added that he recently had a physical exam, and the results were good. “Katatapos ko lang ang annual physical exam. Napakaganda ng aking APE. Sabi nga ng aking doktor baka gusto kong mag-badminton,” he said. He added: “Just a sign of fact that I’m really in the peak of health.” The vice president is 73 years old. Binay said his doctor only prohibits him from consuming sour foods. “Magbawas daw sa maasim na kinakain. (Hyperacidity?) Paminsan- minsan,” said Binay.(MNS)
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte arrives to a cheering crowd for his campaign sortie in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday. Duterte kicked off his 90-day campaign addressing Tondo residents, mostly migrants from Visayas and Mindanao, with a promise of decentralizing development in the country.(MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) − Vice presidential candidate Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday said his running mate, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, finds the evidence against former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo over alleged misuse of intelligence funds weak. Duterte was earlier reported to have said that he intends to release Mrs. Arroyo if he becomes president. Incidentally, Cayetano is one of Mrs. Arroyo’s critics and was even one of those who led the impeachment team against the former president. Mrs. Arroyo has been under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City since 2012 pending the resolution of her plunder case at the Sandiganbayan over her alleged misuse of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) intelligence funds. “Dito kay GMA, tinanong si Mayor base sa kasong nakasalang ngayon, which is the PCSO intelligence funds. All those in government know that the intelligence fund kapag binuksan, iyong amount lang—at COA [Commission on Audit] chair lang pwedeng magbukas—nakalagay buying information, safe houses, etc. Sabi ni Mayor Duterte, mahina ang ebidensya sa kaso na iyan,” Cayetano said. “At ako po, three years akong minority leader… First two years ng Aquino administration, sinabi ko sa kanila, ‘Bakit mahihina iyong kaso n’yo kay GMA? Bakit ang Read More …
Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano MANILA (Mabuhay) − Vice presidential candidate Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday warned that the Philippines is on the brink of becoming a narco state. “Papasok na tayo sa area na pwede maging tipping point na maging sa narco-state,” he said in a radio interview. He said that in some areas, the drug trade is so worse that shabu is used to buy votes. There are also other areas where residents purchase illegal drugs using farm animals. He added that even in Taguig City, where his wife Lani serves as mayor, there are employees who would rather resign from their job than take a random drug test. “You’ll never know when you’re already a narco state eh,” Cayetano claimed. A week ago, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Arturo Cacdac confirmed narcopolitics in some areas. Cayetano also cited the murder of then newly elected mayor of Temixco in Mexico last January 2. Anti-drug advocate Gisela Mota was killed just a day after she took office. He said in extreme cases this is how drug lords show their force. The vice presidential candidate admitted that such events disturb him. “You have to choose kung kanino ka pinakatakot. In my sense, I am more afraid of God than of people. Whether corruption iyan, MILF issue, I have to do my job. Si Mayor [Rodrigo Duterte] naman sabi niya, he is not afraid of dying. He has lived a full life. But that doesn’t mean that Read More …

The term situs is of Latin origin referring to “site or location”. In tax parlance, situs refers to the place of taxation. Determined by legislature, situs is one aspect of taxation, along with nature, purpose, rate, and coverage. Knowing the proper situs of local business tax (LBT) is particularly crucial because payment of the applicable LBT is required before one can get a business permit.
