MANILA (Mabuhay) – Justice Secretary Leila De Lima on Wednesday said she has no plans to investigate or file charges against Sandra Cam over an alleged “sex video.”
Nevertheless, De Lima warned Cam to stop threatening to release the supposed video if the Commission on Appointments confirms her appointment.
De Lima passed muster by the CA at the committee level Wednesday morning. Her nomination will be forwarded to the plenary for confirmation.
She said she and her agency are saddled with too much work to bother investigating Cam, the president of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines who has been trying to block De Lima’s confirmation.
“Hindi ko pa inaalam (I am not looking into it), we do not want to waste the precious time and resources of NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) and DOJ na imbestigahan ‘yan (to investigate that). We have better things to do. Maraming marami kaming trabaho (We have so much work to do),” De Lima said in an interview after the CA hearing at the Senate.
However, De Lima warned that, should Cam make good on her threat, “she would initiate the investigation just to know who are behind her.”
De Lima said she has in mind a number of people who could be behind Cam’s attack on her, but declined to name them because she has no evidence to back up her suspicions.
At the same time, she assured Cam she has no plans of harming or filing cases against her.
“Huwag kang mag-alala Sandra, wala akong gagawin sa iyo. Wala akong gagawin sa iyo like filing of cases, but sana nga tama na (Don’t worry Sandra, I will do nothing against you. I will do nothing like file a case, but I hope this ends),” she said. (MNS)
