MANILA (Mabuhay) — Only the “best and the brightest.”
A Duterte administration will have “accomplished and reformist” cabinet secretaries if the tough-talking Davao City mayor wins the presidency in May, said his running mate Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
During Kapihan sa Senado on Thursday, Cayetano said “known accomplished and reformists in their sector” would be appointed in the government of presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte.
But Cayetano said he and Duterte had not discussed possible names to compose the mayor’s cabinet if elected president in May.
“The mayor does not want to be presumptuous,” he said.
“Hindi talaga napag-uusapan (it had not been discussed), except that it will be the best and the brightest,” he added.
The senator said Duterte does not want to “pick solely” from his supporters as to who would compose his cabinet members.
During his campaign sortie in Legazpi City, Duterte said he would appoint Albay Gov. Joey Salceda as secretary of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda).
Salceda is a stalwart of the ruling Liberal party, being one of its provincial chairs
