Filipino-American Coryn Rivera triumphed in the Prudential RideLondon Classique, powering past the world’s best professional women cyclists in the final sprint to take home the world’s richest one-day prize.

Rivera pedaled to victory and the 25,000 Euros prize money, crediting the winning strategy of her Dutch-based Team Sunweb which also picked up the overall Team prize.

Team Sunweb brought Rivera through for her famous powerful sprint down to the finish line of the RideLondon Classique’s 12 tight-cornered laps of the 5.5km circuit along central London’s The Mall in St. James’ Park, Constitution Hill, Birdcage Walk, Big Ben, Whitehall, Strand, Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch.

The win moves Rivera up to the 4th in the WorldTour rankings.

“It’s really special to win a race here,” said Rivera in the RideLondon Classique report. “But the team is everything to me; that’s what makes this really special.”

“We came up with a really good plan at the start of the day and then everybody executed it perfectly.”

Rivera, who describes herself as born and raised in California as an American purebred Filipina, had previously taken the title in the Tour of Flanders and the Trofeo Alfredo Binda, and recently finished second in the US National Road Race championship.

Rivera recently extended her stay with the Team Sunweb until the end of 2020.

Rivera emerged champion among 120 pro women cyclists from 22 teams from around the world to take the RideLondon Classique prize.
