Cerritos, CA – The Whitney High School Club Kaibigan and Filipino Parents Support Group, Cerritos High School Club Kapamilya and Gahr High School Barkada Club in partnership with Cerritos Mayor Mark & Gloria Pulido, the Filipino American Community of Cerritos, Filipino Cultural School and the Filipino American National Historical Society Los Angeles Chapter proudly present the first Filipino American History Month Celebration in Cerritos on Saturday Oct 25 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 to be held at the Whitney High School – Multimedia Arts Center (16800 Shoemaker Ave Cerritos CA 90703).

The Filipino American History Month Celebration in Cerritos will be screening the documentary film “Delano Manongs” which depicts the story of Larry Itliong and the group of Filipino farm workers that initiated the Delano Grape Strike of 1965.  The director of the film, Marissa Aroy will be present and doing a Q&A session with the audience.  There will also be a PowerPoint presentation of Filipino American history provided by Marissa Rebaya. There will also be a couple of panels of speakers from the various sectors such as military, health, arts and entertainment, elected officials, etc.

There will be various informational booths (some inside the lobby, others in the quad) for: Club Kaibigan, FPSG, Club Kapamilya, Barkada Club, FANHS-LA, Filipino Cultural School to name a few.

Protect-A-Sole (a Cerritos High School student-run charitable organization) will be conducting a shoe donation drive (used and new, all sizes and styles) to benefit the needy of the Philippines. This is a follow-up to their successful drive for the survivors of Super Typhoon Haiyan last year.
