While devout Catholics see Holy Week as a time to reflect, many Filipinos spend the time at the country’s many beaches and other vacation spots.
But not all trips end well, as nearly 60 deaths were recorded by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in the past observances of Holy Week in 2013 and 2014.
According to GMA News Research, the most common causes of deaths over the Holy Week in the past two years were drowing and vehicular accidents.
