MANILA (Mabuhay) — From doing teenybopper roles, Katya Santos transitioned to a sexy star as one of the members of Viva Hot Babes. Katya, who is now a mother, has let go of her sexy image and is back to doing wholesome role again.
She plays the role of Precious, a social worker, in the Kapamilya teleserye “Dream Dad.” Katya is also paired up with Ketchup Eusebio in the teleserye.
“I got married and syempre nag-mother role muna ako sa anak ko.
Katya admitted she really wanted to detach from her past sexy image. She acknowledged that her role on “Dream Dad” has given her the chance to do so.
Napakalaking bagay noon sa akin kasi may pamilya na ako,” she said.
Among her sexy movies then were “Keka,” “Sukdulan” and “Sex Drive.” Thanks to “Dream Dad,” Katya believes people have already forgotten her former sexy image.
Katya is grateful for the support of the viewers who think her portrayal is effective. She initially thought that playing a good character might be hard for her because of the kontrabida and sexy roles she has done in the past.
“Kaya naman palang maging mabait ‘yung character ko, at first kasi laging kontrabida. At first nahihirapan ako kasi feeling ko baka hindi nagsi-sink in sa mga viewers kasi all the time kontrabida ‘yung roles ko. So now achievement ulit sa akin iyon na pwede pala na mabait ‘yung
character ko,” she said.
Being a former child star, Katya admires the work ethics of her young co-star Jana Agoncillo.
I think that’s nice kasi friendly siya and magaling siyang umarte. Mabilis din siyang mag-memorize,” she said.
“Dream Dad” also stars Zanjoe Marudo, Beauty Gonzales, Gloria Diaz, Maxene Magalona, Matt Evans and Ariel Ureta. (MNS)
