Kyla was emotional when she recalled the 15 years of her journey together with her fans at the “Kyla Flying High” concert.
MANILA, Philippines – After 15 years in the industry, Kyla proves that she still has a lot to offer.
On Friday, Kyla celebrated her 15th year in the industry through the “Kyla Flying High” concert that happened at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.
“This means so much to me,” she said at the opening of her show. “Welcome to a milestone year in my life.”
She then recalled how as a child she would pretend performing in New York in front of a big crowd who are applauding her talent.
“It was just an ordinary dream for me from Tondo and now, who would have thought na it’ll be an extraordinary reality for me,” she said. “Tonight is a special night of special moments filled with the best music and I wish that I’ll leave smiles in your faces.”
One of the highlights of the show is when she performed the song “Hanggang Ngayon,” which she said changed her life.

“[Year] 2000 no’ng ni-release ko po ang song na ‘to from my album ‘Way to Your Heart.’ Hindi ko talaga ine-expect na magiging hit song siya talaga,” she said about the song.
“Kaya ngayon, gusto ko talaga muling ipakilala sa inyo the song na bumago a buhay ko,” she added.
While she was performing, the people lit up the place through their cellular phones which later made Kyla emotional.
“Tonight, I’m also flying high and it’s all because of all of you, guys! Kasama ko po kayo sa bawat kabanata ng buhay ko,” she related.
The crowd also got excited when the King of RnB Jay-R joined the Queen of RnB on stage.
Jay-R said that since he came in the country, he has always been a “Kyla fan.”
“Nakita ko siya kumanta sabi ko, ‘wow, ang galing ng boses ni Kyla,’” he said, which made Kyla tease him saying, “kaya mo ba ako lagi sinusundan?”
He affirmed this adding that it was also her looks that drawn him to her. This somehow made Kyla nervous and made her callout to her husband Rich Alvarez saying, “Hi Rich! Hi sweetheart!”
Some other guests at the concert are KZ, Darren Espanto and Erik Santos.
As she ended her show, Kyla thanked everyone who came to her concert, but most especially her fans who have given her strength to spread her wings and soar.
“Now I’m flying high kasama ko po kayo as we continue this beautiful journey across the greatest heights somewhere over the rainbow,” she concluded, performing the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
