MANILA (Mabuhay) – A third quarter poll taken by the Social Weather Stations found an increased number of Filipinos predicting that Benigno Aquino III would be a successful president, with 35% of respondents expecting him to be successful, compared to the second quarter’s 29%.
The third quarter poll also found that 26% expected Aquino to be unsuccessful while 39% said it was still too early to tell either way.
In the second quarter 21% said the president would be unsuccessful, and 50% said it was too early to tell.
Net expectation of success, or the percentage of those who said he will be successful minus the percentage of those who said he would be unsuccessful, thus rose to +9 in the third quarter from the second quarter’s +8.
The SWS rates a net satisfaction rating of +70 as “excellent”; +50 to +69 as “very good”; +30 to +49 as “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”; +9 to — 9, “neutral”; — 10 to — 29, “poor”; — 30 to — 49, “bad”; — 50 to — 69, “very bad”; as well as — 70 and below as “execrable”.
The poll also found that among those who said Aquino would be successful, 83% said they were satisfied with his performance, while seven percent were dissatisfied. This comes out to a +75 net rating in the third quarter, compared to the second quarter’s +87.
Among those who said it was too early to tell, 62% were satisfied and 22% were dissatisfied with Aquino’s performance, for a +40 net rating. In the second quarter, the net rating among those who said it was too early to tell was +57.
For those who said the president would be unsuccessful, 40% were satisfied with 43% were dissatisfied, resulting in a -3 net rating. In the second quarter, Aquino’s net rating among those who said he would be unsuccessful was +20.
In most areas net expectation rose, except in Balance Luzon, where it dropped to a record low of -1 from the second quarter’s +3.
In Metro Manila, net expectation rose to -3 from the second quarter’s -7; it rose to +23 from +12 in the Visayas, and; it rose to +26 form +22 in Mindanao.
Among social classed, net expectation rose to +14 from +8 among class ABC, rose to +22 from +17 among class E, and edged up to +6 form +5 among class D.
The third quarter poll was taken from September 2 to 5 using face-to-face interviews among 1,200 adults across the country. The poll had sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages and ±6% for area percentages.
