With the family of showbiz veterans Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama set to star in their own reality show this summer, daughter Ruffa Gutierrez shared what fans can expect from the six-episode special.

Said to be the first show of its kind in Asia, “It Takes Gutz To Be A Gutierrez” will feature the personal and professional lives of the celebrity family.

“I’m very, very proud. It’s historic,” Ruffa said Thursday during a press conference attended by her parents and siblings, twins Raymond and Richard.

According to the actress, viewers can expect spontaneity and “mayhem” from the family. “The good thing about this is that we’re not only starring it, we’re producing it as well,” she said.

“Ang ayaw lang kasi namin na hindi totoo lang lalabas sa publiko. Kaya now that we’re in control, mapapakita namin ‘yung gusto namin ipakita sa mga tao.”

If there’s one thing their director, Emmy award-winner Michael Carandang, asked of the Gutierrez family, Ruffa said it is “to be as real as possible.”

But she stressed that the freedom given to her family can be a double-edged sword, noting the lack of filtering and editing on the show for her notoriously outspoken mother.

Kasi reality show ‘di ba? So usually na-fifilter namin si mommy eh ‘to, baka pagtapos ng cruise at pagtapos ng taping, white na ‘yung buhok ko sa stress,” she said, laughing.

“There’s always one member of the family na kailangan lagyan ng subtitles,” Ruffa quipped, referring to her mother’s preference to speak in Filipino.

Despite their already well-documented lives, Ruffa said that viewers can still expect a lot of surprises and revelations in the show.

Because everyone, I believe, has personal life, a public life, and a secret life. So maybe secrets will be revealed here,” she hinted.

Ruffa said that even the most private member of her family won’t be able to hide anything when the camera starts rolling.

“’Yung mga question na matagal niyo ng tinatanong, sasagutin niya dito. This is the proper venue,” she said, referring to her brother Richard.

It was earlier announced that the show will also feature Sarah Lahbati, Richard’s girlfriend, who is treated as part of the family, according to Annabelle.

Family naman si Sarah. Tuwang-tuwa ako kasi lahat ng prayers ko nasagot,” she said of her son’s willingness to be part of the show.

Rama couldn’t contain her excitement, adding that she is proud that her family is being likened to the Kardashians, stars of the hit US-reality television series, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

“It Takes Gutz to be A Gutierrez” is set to premiere on E!, Sky Cable Channel 57 in May. (MNS)
