Traffic builds up along NLEX, SLEX as Holy Week exodus continues

Vehicles continue to build up in several points along the North and South Luzon Expressways Thursday morning as more Filipinos continue to head for provinces for the Holy Week.

As of 10:07 a.m., traffic along the Calamba Toll Plaza in SLEX has become moderate, with the queue of vehicles reaching 1.2 kilometers, the Toll Regulatory Board said on Twitter. Ambulant tellers have been deployed and a counterflow lane has been opened.
 

A 500-meter queue is also building up along the SLEX toll plaza in Ayala, Alabang.

The traffic situation along the northbound lanes from Calamba and Ayala, meanwhile, remains light.

As of 10:08 a.m., the traffic is moderate to heavy along NLEX from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to Balagtas Interchange in Bulacan, the Tollways Management Corporation (TMC) tweeted.
 

The traffic flow also ranges from moderate to heavy in the northbound lane from Balintawak Toll Plaza to Sta. Rita Interchange. The same traffic situation has also been reported from Bocaue Interchange to Dau in Pampanga.

The queue of vehicles along the Dau Toll Plaza has reached approximately 1 kilometer, according to TRB.

MANILA, Philippines – Four groups led by conglomerates Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), San Miguel Corp., Ayala Corp., are set to slug it out for the P35.4-billion Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) project, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday. Public Works Assistant Secretary Eugenio Pipo Jr. said a total of four groups submitted prequalification documents for the CALAX project yesterday afternoon. “All the bidders submitted their prequalification documents before the 2 p.m. deadline,” Pipo stressed. He pointed out that Alloy MTD Philippines Inc. was the first to submit at 11:04 in the morning. AlloyMtd is the merger between MTD  of Malaysia and Alloy with a long established track record in civil engineering and construction, manufacturing, infrastructure concessions, energy, port operations, real estate and property development. It completed the 36 kilometer portion of South Luzon Expressway. Aquino OKs 6 PPP projects worth P76.5 B

MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino approved on Wednesday six public-private partnership projects with a combined total of P76.5 billion among five government agencies, but two of the National Economic Development Authority-approved projects carried “conditions.” The P27.5-billion proposed Philippine Rural Development Program of the Agriculture department under Secretary Proceso Alcala was put on hold, and so was the P5.9-billion Philippine Ports and Coast Guard Capability Development project of the DOTC. The project from the office of Transportation Secretary Emilio Joseph Abaya was for the procurement of four brand new 24-meter patrol boats and one 82-meter patrol boat that would be used by the Philippine Coast Guard, an agency under the DOTC. The rural development project under the Department of Agriculture was for increasing “farm and fishery productivity in 16 targeted regions and 80 provinces all over the country, thru “adoption and integration of climate-smart agricultural support.” Among the four approved NEDA projects that the government’s Investment Coordination Committee endorsed were from the Departments of Energy (DOE), Education (DepEd) and Public Works and Highways (DPWH). There were two DPWH projects – the P6.7-billion post-Ondoy and Pepeng short-term infrastructure rehabilitation project and P5.5-billion Phase II of the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement project.
