Lea Salonga is returning to the Broadway stage as a lead cast member in the revival of “Once On This Island.”

Salonga topbills the show as Erzulie, the goddess of love in the broadway retelling of the story of Ti Moune, a village girl who falls in love with a rich boy and receives the guidance of island gods.

Tony winner Salonga will join the broadway restaging of the show that fellow Tony awardees Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Anastasia, Ragtime) wrote based on the novel “My Love, My Love” by Rosa Guy.

Producers Ken Davenport and Hunter Arnold announced Salonga’s joining the cast of four island gods that includes Quentin Earl Darrington (Cats), Alex Newell (Glee), and Merle Dandridge (Greenleaf).

Michael Arden, the director of the Broadway musical that earned eight Tony nominations when it was first staged in 1990, said in the BroadwayWorld report, “I’m so very pleased to be collaborating with these four artists exploring the important and timely themes of this musical through their unique and incredible abilities.”

Salonga, who rose to international fame as Kim of Miss Saigon, was last seen on Broadway in 2015 as the star of “Allegiance.”

The Filipino international musical icon and concert artist will be seen back on Broadway’s Circle’s Square Theatre on November 9.
