Imagine travelling from Batasan Pambansa in Quezon City to Bonifacio Global City in just 30 minutes during rush hour traffic.

That’s the dream behind the construction of the new C6 Expressway project, which officially broke ground on January 8, 2018.

The groundbreaking for the first phase of the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (SEMME) was led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Transportation Toll Regulatory Board (DOTr – TRB), reports Entrepreneur Philippines.

San Miguel Corp unit Citra Intercity Tollways Inc. is the concessionaire of the project.

The expressway is set to cut travel time from QC to Taguig to just 30 minutes, from the current average of an hour and a half to two hours.

The expressway will have six lanes, with a total length of around 34 kilometers. Total cost of the project is pegged at Php 31.3 billion, and the first phase is set to be completed by 2020.
