Meanwhile, Sarah Geronimo’s cover of the song “Maybe This Time” (which is also the title of her Star Cinema movie with Coco Martin) is the most streamed OPM track on Spotify from April to July.

Her song “Ikot-Ikot” also made it to the music streaming service’s most streamed track list.

Eraserhead has three songs on the list of Spotify’s ten most streamed OPM tracks: “Pare Ko,” “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” and Ligaya.”

The male vocal group Boyce Avenue, meanwhile, is the most streamed international artist on Spotify in the Philippines, followed by Katy Perry, Coldplay, Jason Derulo, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, OneRepublic, One Direction, and Maroon 5.

“We are pleased to reveal that the Philippines is one of our fastest-growing markets in the region,” says Sunita Kaur, Managing Director of Spotify Asia. The impressive growth is largely attributed to the high engagement of music fans on the service, 56 percent of whom are made up of Millennials aged 24 and under.

“We hope to become the best alternative to music piracy in the country as we offer Pinoys free and legal access to over 30 million tracks,” she added.

Mobile music streaming growth is further reinforced by Spotify’s partnership with Globe Telecom. As Globe Telecom’s Chief Operating Advisor Peter Bithos shared, “Our partnership with Spotify has given our customers one of the best mobile experiences to date.”

Spotify is bundled for free with Globe’s consumable data plan GoSURF, allowing Globe, TM and Tattoo Prepaid customers to enjoy mobile data for as low as Php 15 and access Spotify’s massive music catalogue without using up their GoSURF mobile internet allowance. “To date, majority of our customer base now prefer GoSURF for more value for their money and to enjoy their playlists on Spotify,” Mr. Bithos added.

On top of growth figures, Spotify offers further insights on Pinoy music fans. “Our latest data confirms that Pinoys take pride in their homegrown artists,” says Ms. Kaur. With Eraserheads and Sarah Geronimo topping the list of the most streamed local artists, Spotify’s extensive, free and mobile music library has paved the way for OPM artists to reach out to many more music fans. Meanwhile, Boyce Avenue, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran rank among Filipinos’ international favorites on Spotify.

Now available in 57 markets worldwide, Spotify launched in Asia in 2013 and introduced the service to Filipinos in April this year. With exciting new features being added to the music service all the time, Spotify aims to continue offering an unbeatable music experience to Pinoy music fans.
