BeyondthebellThe Los Angeles Unified School District’s Beyond the Bell Division in their Office of Communications launched their “Make Music” concert at the Visconti Plaza in Los Angeles recently.

The “Make Music” concert, hosted by Beyond the Bell Division is an eleven-hour celebration of musical creativity participated by the after-school program of Beyond the Bell performed by students throughout  the entire county of Los Angeles in schoolyards, sidewalks, street corners, community gardens and parks, used as backdrops or stage for the free concerts.

During its kick off concert, performers include LAUSD empoyees, musicians, dancers, students and other local talent. The outdoor event was free to the public which included a variety of food truck vendors .

‘Make Music LA” provides a platform for LAUSD students and employees who have entertainment abilities as musicians, poets, dancers, storytellers, actors, visual and media artists to showcase “their community’s landscape and help people rediscover their surroundings as well as experience new ones.”

Alvaro Cortes, Executive Director of LAUSD’s  Beyond The Bell Division, spearheaded the event with the mission that bringing concerts such as “Make Music LA”  brings everyone together “to experience a shared cultural environment.”
