MANILA — 2014 proved to be a lucky wedding year for some local showbiz celebrities. Take a look back at the names that made it in the altar in the year of the horse.
Iya Villania and Drew Arellano
Date: January 31
Venue: Kawayan Cove, in Nasugbu, Batangas
After 10 years of dating, Drew and Iya tied the knot early this year in Nasugbu, Batangas without media fanfare. The “secret” wedding was attended by the couple’s closest friends and family.
Official wedding videographer Jason Magbanua described the couple as the “most humble and friendly as they get. They don’t feel entitled”. He added that Iya and Drew “weren’t putting on a show for anybody, they were celebrating the moment with those most important to them.”
Karylle and Yael Yuzon
Date: March 21
Venue: San Antonio de Padua in Silang, Cavite
From the beginning, Karylle and Yael have always been tight-lipped about their romance. So it came as no surprise when the couple decided to announce their wedding date a month before the actual ceremony.
Karylle confirmed her planned wedding in February on noontime variety program “It’s Showtime”. The wedding was attended by 150 people composed of family and friends.
Kim Jones and Jericho Rosales

Venue: Shangri-la Boracay Resort
They say friendship is the best foundation of marriage. And that proved to be true to the love story of Jericho and Kim. The two met through common friends in 2011.
For the wedding, Filipino-British Kim, who grew up in Australia, wore a sweetheart neckline gown by Vania Romoff while the actor opted for a beige suit by Francis Libiran.
In a recent interview with Jericho, the Kapamilya star said they are keen to enjoy their married life first before having a baby.
Boots Anson and Francisco “King” Rodrigo
Wedding Date: June 14
Venue: Archbishop’s Palace, Mandaluyong
Boots, 69, said that she never thought of marrying again after the death of her first husband, Pete Roa, in 2007.
But then came Kim.
Rodrigo, an international lawyer and former Philippine consul general in the United States, courted the seasoned actress for almost a year before putting a ring on her in front of their children in June.
Amy Perez and Carlo Castillo
Wedding Date: November 12
Venue: Mango Farm in Antipolo, Rizal
After years of being together, Amy and Carlo formalized their union by exchanging wedding vows last November 12 in Antipolo. The intimate garden ceremony was attended by the couple’s closest friends in and out of showbiz.
Amy wore a simple wedding gown while Carlo donned a beige suit. After the ceremony, the television host posted a photo of her and Carlo on Instagram with eldest kid Adi, her son with ex-husband Brix Ferraris, and her two children with Castillo.
Joross Gamboa and Kathy Saga
Wedding Date: November 29
Venue: Fernbrook Gardens, Alabang
Comedy actor Joross joins the wedding bandwagon after he wed long-time non-showbiz girlfriend Kathy Kimberly Saga in Fernbrook Gardens in Alabang.
The intimate wedding was attended by Joross’ “Star Circle Quest” colleagues, including Korean pop star, Sandara Park.
Bianca Gonzalez and JC Intal
Wedding Date: December 4
Venue: El Nido, Palawan
Days ahead of their announced wedding date, Bianca and JC surprised many when they exchanged “I dos” at Lagen Island Resort in El Nido, Palawan. The bride wore a ready-to-wear Rosa Clara beaded lace gown and did her own makeup while JC opted for a Barong.
Six days after their wedding, the newlyweds hosted a dinner at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City to celebrate with the rest of their friends in showbiz and sports.
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino and King of Talk Boy Abunda were among the 14 godparents, together with Senator Alan Peter and Mayor Lani Cayetano, basketball coach Norman Black, broadcast journalist Karen Davila, and ABS-CBN business unit head Laurenti Dyogi.
Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino
Wedding Date: December 8
Venue: California
“Nagsimula na ang buhay ko,” was Aiza’s caption when she first posted a photo of her and wife, actress Liza Dino. The two had a forest-themed civil wedding in Sunny Patch Lane, California.
The couple got engaged early this year with the singer going down on one knee at one segment of a commissioned musical play they starred together. Families of Aiza and Liza were both present during the engagement and wedding.
Neri Naig and Chito Miranda
Wedding Date: December 13 & 14
Venue: Taguig City; Tagaytay, Batangas
Chito and Neri surprised their supporters when they decided to have a civil union before opting for a garden wedding ceremony. The couple exchanged platinum bands in front of Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, and later on, vows in a ceremony officiated by close friend Ramon Bautista.
Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes
Wedding date: December 30
Venue: Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Cubao
What a better way to cap the year than a wedding made in showbiz heaven. GMA’s Primetime King is finally tying the knot with the Primetime Queen.
The couple will wed on December 30 at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Cubao, a venue special to Dingdong as he grew up attending masses in the said church. The reception will follow at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Marian will don a Michael Cinco bridal gown while Dingdong picked Randy Ortiz to design his suit.
Actress/host Kris Aquino is among the principal sponsors together with TV executives Lilybeth Resonable, Wilma Galvante, directors Joyce Bernal, Mac Alejandre, Mark Reyes, talent managers Lolit Solis and Perry Lansigan, host German Moreno, designer Randy Ortiz, showbiz couple Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid, and Star for All Seasons and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto.
