A 22-YEAR-OLD lass was crowned as this year’s Bb. Igacos 2015 in ceremonies on March 6 at the Samal Multipurpose Gym in Barangay Penaplata.
Bernadette Jade Borres Laniba, who represented Barangay Pe¤aplata, bested other 12 contestants in the beauty tilt.
Born on October 29, 1993, Bernadette, fondly called as Badet by her family and friends, completed her degree in Accounting Technology at University of Mindanao-Tagum in April 2014.
Badet, third of five siblings, is the doting daughter of Gavino, a retired encoder at Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative (Daneco) at Samal and Angela, a housewife.
Badet works as a teller/encoder at Daneco Samal, replacing her father.
Badet, who descibes herself as being simple, said that she is not a newbie anymore in joining beauty pageants.
“Ilang beses na akong sumali sa mga beauty pageants, like Ms. SK 2010 sa Kaputian, ako ang nakakuha ng title. Yung Biyaneng sa Pe¤aplata, Mr. & Ms. BSBA UM 2010, Ms. LYR tapos eto Bb. Igacos,” she added. “Di ko lang masyadong dinamdam yung pressure kalmado lang ako sa Q & A. Siyempre mentally and emotionally prepared ka dapat.”
When asked how it feels to be a beauty queen, Badet shared the positive and down side of it.
“Masakit na nakaka-happy. Lalo na pag nagsusuot ka na ng high heels tapos di ako sanay, sobrang sakit sa paa, pero kailangan mo yung tiisin ’til matapos ang competition. Yung mga negative comments against me na kesyo di ko raw kaya, bakit daw ako ang napili. Pero I remain positive. I am just thankful kasi I made my barangay, my family and friends so proud of my achievement.”
With a 32-24-34 vital statistics, Badet added that it’s her chin that she thinks is the sexiest part of her body.
To maintain a sexy figure, Badet does some breathing exercise.
She is just thankful of having a quick metabolism, which she thinks is the reason why it’s not hard to maintain an hour-glass body.
While some girls dream of enhancing their faces and body with the aid of science, Badet admits that she’s afraid of needles, or even undergo an operation.
“Actually takot ako sa operation, kuntento na rin ako sa mukha ko. Happy na ako sa ano yung binigay sa akin,” she said.
When asked about the three guys she admires most, Badet quickly shares: “Sa artista crush ko si John Lloyd Cruz, na-aattract ako sa mata niya. Ikalawa yung tatay Gavino, and our eldest si Manong Bryan, kasi very obedient siya and loving sa aming magkapatid.”
Other winners in the beauty pageant: 1st runner up is Jiah Cadiz of Barangay San Agustin who also got the Best in swimsuit, casual wear and evening gown.
Taking home the second runner-up crown is Charielynne Joyce Napoles of Barangay Mambago A, who also bagged the Miss Close-up Smile and Best Performer, while the 3rd runner-up is April Rose Pasaol from Barangay Mambago B who also got the Miss Friendship. Pasaol was also named as Sunstar Superbalita Ms. Superlike 2015, 4th runner-up is Jessel Margate of Barangay Tambo, who got the Miss Photogenic award.
The Binibining IGaCoS 2015 received a trophy and P30,000 cash; 1st runner up received a trophy and P20,000; 2nd runner up received a trophy and P10,000 while the 3rd and fourth also took home a trophy and cash prizes.
The winners will serve as ambassadresses of goodwill in helping promote tourism and the protection and conservation of the island.
They willl also receive a free trip to Manila and Baguio City, sponsored by City Mayor Aniano Antalan.
