Resorts World, Viva set stage for Bituing Walang Ningning: The Musical

PREMIER lifestyle destination Resorts World Manila (RWM), together with Full House Theater Company and Viva Communications, Inc. (Viva), will bring to life a story that has transcended Philippine entertainment. The blockbuster collaboration is set to produce a theater adaptation of the classic drama Bituing Walang Ningning. The story tells of a singer’s rise up the competitive ranks of show business following her plight through love and the hardships she endured on her way up its steep ladder to success. A story originally told over a serialized comic strip by fictionist Nerissa Cabral, Bituing Walang Ningning was made into a blockbuster movie in 1985 starring Sharon Cuneta, Cherie Gil and Christopher De Leon and was then re-made into a hit television series back in 2006 with Sarah Geronimo, Angelika dela Cruz, and Ryan Agoncillo playing the lead roles. Similar to how the plot of the story unfolded, the doors are open for local aspirants to play the lead role of Dorina Pineda popularized in the movie by Sharon Cuneta and by Sarah Geronimo in the drama’s TV run. Queen of All Media Kris Aquino says she has no plans of entering politics next year. QUEEN of All Media Kris Aquino is not running for public office next year amid rumors that she was eyeing the gubernatorial post in her home province of Tarlac. “Hindi po (No),” was Kris’ reply to Superstar Nora Aunor, who asked her in showbiz-oriented program “The Buzz” on Sunday if she’s joining politics in 2016. Kris said that her main priority is to be the best parent for her two sons, Joshua and James Jr. “You all know what my priority is, mga anak ko, and Gerbel (Bimby’s nanny) is getting married in September. The yaya was there from the start, (minsan) wala kami ni James, and I really promised him na the entire adjustment period, I’m going to be there,” she said. “He said, ‘Are you going to bring me to school and pick me up?’ Sabi ko, ‘yes honey, I will’. PERFORMER Aicelle Santos has no problem with going solo after singing group “La Diva” disbanded last year. In a recent interview, the Kapuso talent shared that going solo has its own perks and disadvantages. She likes that there’s always new things to discover in showbiz but also saddened that she no longer get to share the stage with then group mates Jonalyn Viray and Maricris Garcia. “It’s a new adventure and masaya siya. Although minsan nami-miss ko yung nasa stage ka with a group and you help each other. Now, may mga bagay ako na natututunan on my own na okay din,” Aicelle said. “I have to stay focused and work hard not to only disappoint the management but also yung mga tao na naniniwala sa akin, sa talent ko in singing.” She makes sure that she will give her best in every performance. “I try to sing from the heart. Rachelle was handed the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical trophy at the recently concluded WhatsOnStage Awards 2015. Cristine, boyfriend welcome baby girl -- report

ACTRESS Cristine Reyes and non-showbiz boyfriend Ali Khatibi reportedly welcomed their first child, a girl, on Sunday, February 8. Entertainment website PEP.ph reported that Reyes gave birth last Sunday, triggering a flurry of congratulatory messages posted on their respective Instagram accounts. Khatibi, a mixed martial arts fighter and businessman, responded by thanking most of their followers. Nikki Gil calls fiancé an answered prayer

ACTRESS-singer Nikki Gil said she is looking to forward to spending the rest of her life with businessman BJ Albert, whom she considered an answered prayer. “I feel like God blessed me with someone who wants to make me become a better person. And I couldn’t be happier. I’m excited. Siyempre, it’s exciting. It’s something that I’ve always prayed for. I’m happy that I’m entering a new chapter in my life,” Nikki said at the anniversary press conference of concert program “ASAP.” She’s also overwhelmed by the congratulatory messages she received from fans and colleagues from the entertainment industry. “Masaya ako na masaya sila for me. NIKKI Gil revealed she was engaged to her non-showbiz boyfriend, BJ Albert, in December last year and plans to get married this year. In an exclusive interview by “Bandila,” the singer-actress said she did not hide her engagement but did not want to announce it also. Gil said they want to keep it private because her fiancé is not part of the entertainment industry. The Kapamilya talent recalled that Albert, nephew of music icon Joey Albert, asked her hand in marriage last December 13, 2014. “First he asked my parents and may pakulo na may corporate event ako and then pagdating ko, he asked. KRIS Aquino made peace with Judy Ann Santos following their brief falling out due to the latter’s Instagram post critical of President Benigno Aquino III, the television host’s brother. Kris followed Judy Ann again late Thursday afternoon and later on shared their brief exchange of text messages. “I can be impulsive & overly emotional. But I also believe I am never spiteful & always respectful. Above all, I know how to take responsibility for my actions. Before leaving for work, I felt my guardian angel telling me to text @officialjuday. Naglakas loob ako & prayed for the best,” she said. Heart said in an interview on Monday that Escudero opened her eyes to the world and taught her a lot of things about love and life. “Ibang klase talaga yung nagawa sa akin ni Chiz as a woman, emotionally, in-introduce niya ako to the world.
