Mindset of the millennials

Armando Bartolome Millennials refer to those who were born between 1980 and 2000. The businesses which are profitable then may not satisfy their taste which is why business owners are more focused on how they can attract this age group which comprises bulk of the market today. Millennials are not simply sitting back; they are more attuned to jumping into franchising to start their entrepreneurial journey. Due to the low employment rate that matches their skills, starting up a business has been their ultimate choice. So what drives a millennial into franchising? Knowing that having their own business would mean having control over their working hours. Businesses should be visible on social media since millennials comprise the biggest chunk of smartphone users. They should make sure that they are able to reach their customers with a single tap or click. How many of you stop your friends from grabbing a piece of chicken from a plate that has been recently served only to have a picture taken and shared on Instagram? Or showcasing your #OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) as soon as you have unwrapped your newly bought top and jeans? Knowing how much social media has become part of our everyday lives gives businesses a new way to connect with customers. What can be more appealing than making use of eye-catching graphics? Think of how some successful companies are enjoying the spotlight. Millennials want things done instantly. By having apps for different businesses, it enables one to instantly purchase Read More …

Vogue says Filipino Food next great American Cuisine

Vogue magazine has published an article declaring “How Filipino Food Is Becoming the Next Great American Cuisine.” Noodles at LASA [by Claudia Mc Nelly via Vogue] Vogue’s Claudia McNeilly wrote about the journey of how finding a “treasured dish of the Philippines” does not end with a single entrée because of the many flavors of Filipino food. The American fashion and lifestyle magazine referred to Filipino food as the original fusion cuisine that is an “intricate pattern of Spanish, Western, Chinese, Japanese, and Pacific Islander flavors that serve as living proof of the country’s rich cultural history.” The article started off its listing of iconic Filipino dishes with the Spanish-influenced chicken pork adobo which was recently given a spotlight on “Good Morning America” when celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay said he preferred the Filipino-style adobo burger prepared in a show cook- off.  Kare-kare was next cited for its Indian heritage. The Pinoy comfort food Spamsilog and Spam sandwich were also on the list and traced to the American influence in the country during World War II. “The palate of Filipino food is entirely its own, relying on acids and sweetness perhaps more than any other cuisine,” according to the article which pointed out the lechon roast pig, pork longganisa, and even the world renowned Filipino food chain’s Jollibee-style spaghetti. “It’s here that flavors don’t blend together so much as sit atop one another, lifting each up into an addictive symphony of tangy, salty, and sweet,” McNeilly added. To prove the trend, Read More …

PHL internet speed makes huge gains, Akamai says

The Philippines is enjoying a co-leadership status in Asia Pacific, together with Thailand and China, in gains in average speeds for internet connection. The network will be used to host a national portal and other online government services, as well as to connect remote areas of the country that are underserved by existing broadband providers. Deployment could begin as early as June, with a three- to five-year timeline for completion,” said the Akamai report. In terms of 15 Mbps broadband adoption, the Philippines’ first quarter showing at 72%places it at 3rd rank after China and SriLanka. How Can I Increase My Monthly Income?

Chinkee Tan What’s the most frustrating thing that has ever happened in your life?   Maybe it’s these things… Do you feel that you are working so hard, yet you never seem to be earning enough? Do you find yourself always doing overtime, yet you can’t seem to fit all of your extra pay for all your bills? Do you have sidelines left and right, yet you feel as if the money you get is just passing through your hands? If you answered a big, resounding YES to any of those, then I have some tips for you: VALUE YOUR TIME Actually, time is more important than money. The accumulation of money can be unlimited, but when it comes to time, it never accumulates, it only depletes. Young or old, rich or poor, we all have only 24 hours in a single day. The only difference is how we use our time. The moment you receive your earnings, what do you do with it? If you really want to increase your income, spend your time doing MONEY-GENERATING activities. Aside from these activities, you also need to spend time… LEARNING FROM OTHER PEOPLE There’s truth to the saying, “Birds with the same feather flock together.” If your goal is to increase your income, then join people with the same goal as you, so that they can inspire you and help you reach that goal.
