Gerald on Sarah: I’m happy she’s happy

Gerald Anderson (MNS photo) Gerald Anderson was not able to evade questions about singer-actress Sarah Geronimo, who recently said that they are now okay. “Ako ‘yung maiilang, ako ‘yung mahihiya [na makasama siya sa isang production number] kasi she’s one of the best performers sa Pilipinas. I’m just happy na she’s happy. She’s blooming,” he said. But is he willing to do a movie project with Geronimo again if given the opportunity? “Sabi ko nga kanina, ang pinaka-focus ko ay trabaho ko. Regardless, kung maganda ang proyekto, it would be my honor. But ayaw ko na magsalita pa. Mahirap,” he said, while pleading to reporters to stop asking him questions about Geronimo. Geronimo is currently in a relationship with Matteo Guidicelli. Meanwhile, Anderson said he plans to focus on his career for now and let his love life take the backseat. “Trabaho lang. Hindi po ako naghahanap. Masaya lang po ako sa nangyayari ngayon. Doon muna ako sa tahimik. I’m just enjoying myself muna and become a better person,” he said. Sarah Geronimo (MNS Photo) Would he prefer a non-showbiz girlfriend the next time he enters into a relationship? “Hindi ko po alam. Hindi ko po masasabi iyon. Kung sino po ang nandiyan, whoever I fall in love with. Pero like I said, ang dami ko pang kailangan matutunan sa sarili ko,” he said. “Ang dami ko ring na-realize sa buhay ko. Ang dami ko ring pagkakamali. Ang dami ko ring failures. Unti-unti, I’m trying to learn from it and Read More …

Mapping the future of the self-driving car

Maps for autonomous driving require multiple layers of information and decimeter accuracy. ©Stephen VanHorn/shutterstock.com (Relaxnews) – As Daimler, Audi and BMW move to acquire Nokia’s Here mapping division, TomTom and Bosch have revealed that they’re now working together to develop ultra-accurate maps and the specifications that will enable autonomous cars to read them. Digital maps, the type we access every time we fire up a car’s satnav or reach for the smartphone, have been revolutionary in preventing people getting lost and helping drivers navigate unfamiliar surroundings. And while they’ll form the foundation of the guidance systems that will one day see the car take care of the journey while its occupants put their feet up, they need to become much more accurate, first. “Only with high precision maps will automated driving on freeways be possible from 2020,” said Bosch board of management member Dr. Dirk Hoheisel. How accurate? According to TomTom, they need to have decimeter precision and consist of several layers of information. The first layer is simply the route — where the car’s going and how it gets there. The second offers the accuracy needed for a car to determine if it is actually within a lane on a road. A third layer provides speed limits, information on the types of lane markings, slopes, curves and bends. And, only with all of these layers working in sync with a car’s sensors can it know exactly where it is and is able to calculate the next move – such Read More …

Grace Poe no longer expecting Aquino’s endorsement

Senator Grace Poe talks with Senator Francis Escudero during a break in the Senate session on Tuesday (July 28, 2015) after the latter resigned from his post as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and co-chairman of the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Public Expenditures. (MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) – Even as she has yet to categorically state her political plans for 2016, Senator Grace Poe said Wednesday that she is no longer expecting that President Benigno Aquino III will endorse her for next year’s presidential polls. Poe’s remark came amid pronouncements by a ranking Liberal Party official that Aquino will endorse Interior Secretary Mar Roxas as the administration’s presidential candidate anytime this week. “Hindi ako magtataka kung ang i-e-endorso ng Pangulo ay si Sec Mar. Unang una, kapartido niya iyon pero ang palagi namang sinasabi ng ating Pangulo sa akin ay naiintindihan niya na lahat kami ay kailangang gawin namin kung ano ang sa inaakala namin ang makabubuti sa bansa,” she told reporters. “Mahirap kasi mag expect (na ikaw ang ieendorso) dahil mahirap din naman madisappoint,” she added. Aquino and Poe had four meetings in Malacañang in connection with the 2016 polls. The two met again Monday afternoon before the President delivered his State of the Nation Address at the House of Representatives. Poe said they did not talk about politics during that instance, discussing instead classified information about governance. She did not elaborate. Based on the most recent survey results on prospective 2016 presidentail candidates, Poe had overtaken Read More …

Chiz: No regrets supporting VP Binay

Vice President Jejomar Binay addresses the crowd during the 36th National Conference of Employers at Marriott hotel in Pasay City on Friday. Binay told the business community his family only has five bank accounts, denying the Anti Money Laundering Council report that he owns about 242 bank accounts. (MNS Photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) – Senator Francis Escudero, who is rumored to be running for higher office in 2016, said Wednesday he has no regrets supporting the vice-presidential candidacy of Jejomar Binay in 2010. Escudero came out in TV ads in 2010 supporting the candidacies of Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno Aquino III and opposition candidate Jejomar Binay. Both candidates won in the 2010 polls. The senator said he does not regret supporting Binay since he did not know about the corruption allegations against the then Makati mayor. “Knowing what I knew then, no. Knowing what I know now, but then again hindsight is 20/20. Wala ka nang magagawa nun,” he said. He compared his support for Binay to President Aquino’s and Secretary Mar Roxas’ own support for then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2004 before allegations of widespread cheating came out. “Si Secretary Roxas at Pangulong Aquino sinuportahan din si GMA nun. Nung nalaman nila ang mga ginawa ni GMA, bumitiw at kumalas sila sa pagbigay ng suporta sa kanya. Walang masama dun,” he said. “I don’t regret anything I’ve done simply because I did not know those things at that time…I do not regret and it is not my habit to Read More …
