Why Sarah avoids doing teleseryes

Sarah Geronimo (MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) — It’s been years since Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo appeared on a teleserye and fans have been wondering if they’ll get to see their idol do one more having signed a new, two-year contract with ABS-CBN recently. Well, the fans may have to wait a bit more as the 27-year-old singer-actress is not keen on it for now. “Kasi sobrang napapagod ’yung boses ko,” she explained. Nevertheless, Sarah is open to accepting movie projects. “Hopefully makakuha ako ng movie project na talagang ma-i-in love ako at ma-i-inspire akong gawin at gustong-gusto kong gawin. Hindi ’yung parang, ‘Sige gawin na lang natin para may pelikula ka,’ ganu’n,” she said. Sarah is focusing on her singing career, which is the reason she’s not on the upcoming season of “The Voice Kids Philippines.” “Gusto ko lang bumalik sa ‘ASAP,’ ’yung mag-concentrate naman ako sa growth ko bilang artist. Kasi I feel na bilang coach parang lagi kong sinasabi na role playing talaga ’yung pagiging coach eh, ’yung para bang alam ko lahat at ’pag nagbibigay ako ng opinyon para bang ang galing-galing ko. Medyo nag-he-hesitate pa rin ako du’n eh although sobrang masaya naman talaga at fun ’yung experience,” she said. She’s not closing her doors on the possibility of returning on “The Voice Kids Philippines” in the future. “Baka next season, why not? Kung gusto pa rin nila ako maging coach,” she said. Sarah shared her excitement for her replacement on the show. “Whoever comes in, Read More …

Lacson’s ‘moral advice’ to Kim Wong: Return the money

Bangladesh Ambassador to the Philippines John Gomes (2nd left) talks to Senator Teofisto Guingona III on Tuesday during the Senate hearing on the $81-million money laundering heist. Hackers transferred the amount last February from the Bangladesh central bank to the RCBC Jupiter branch in Makati, after which it was laundered in casinos.(MNS photo) MANILA  (Mabuhay) – Former senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson revealed on Wednesday that casino junket operator Kim Wong came to him for advice before facing the Senate. Lacson also said Wong, who has been a long-time friend, sought his counsel before returning the P450-million earnings he had from a casino player. “Sabi ko ‘gusto mo bang mag-explain? Lalapit kita sa isa o dalawang senador, but you must assure me that you’re going to tell all. Sabihin mo lahat ng totoo, hindi pwedeng may itatago ka; mapapahiya ako dun sa lalapitan natin. Tell all.’” Wong assured Lacson that he will reveal the whole truth, so he faced the Senate eventually. The junket operator also returned $4-million of the dirty money in his junket to the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and contemplated returning the P450-million his player paid him. “Sabi ko, ganito lang ang analogy diyan: naglabas ka ng sarili mong pera, bumili ka ng sasakyan. Nagkataon, carnapped pala. Anong gagawin mo? Itatago mo yung sasakyan? Isauli mo.” Wong was given the same advice by his children and was promised their support in raising the P450-million, but another lawyer told him not to return the money because it is technically Read More …

Political ad on respect not a response to Duterte’s rape remark, Poe clarifies

Coconut farmers from Quezon province and the Bicol region criticize the alleged connivance between businessman Danding Cojuangco and presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe on the use of the Coco Levy Fund, during a press conference in Quezon City on Monday.(MNS photo) ILIGAN CITY  (Mabuhay) – Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday clarified that her new political advertisement about the importance of respect was not conceptualized as a response to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s recent controversial remark on rape. Poe said the concept for the 30-second ad, which featured various faces of women, was already formed before Duterte drew flak for making light of the sexual assault and killing of an Australian missionary in Davao City in 1989. “Matagal na yang script na ‘yan. Meron pa nga kaming isa about work. Yung nauna doon, kung nakita niyo, yung parang omnibus na andun lahat ng mga platform. Tapos ngayon, siyempre as we get to the ano… Nag-timing talaga. Masasabi ko na importante rin talaga na malaman din ang respeto ay mahalaga,” she said at the sidelines of her sortie here. Several new ads highlighting her other advocacies would be released in the coming days, the senator added. Poe’s latest ad, which was posted on her official Facebook page Tuesday, opened with the senator asking why women are being treated poorly. “Bakit tayong mga babae binabastos, binabalewala, minamaliit, hinihiya?” she asked. Poe then vowed that under her “Gobyernong may Puso,” everyone would be respected. “Sa Gobyernong may Puso, gagalangin ang lahat—mayaman o mahirap. Read More …
