ACTRESS Jessy Mendiola was affected by the online bashing she had received after she co-hosted the 2014 UAAP Cheerdance Competition over the weekend, her sister Pam Mendiola said.

In an interview with Pam at TV5’s “Wattpad Presents” launch held Thursday afternoon, the 23-year-old shared that Jessy was distraught by the negative comments she got in social media.

The ABS-CBN talent event confided and slept in her sister’s bedroom after the incident.

Feeling ko hindi lang naayos and at the same time kinabahan pa siya,” Pam said.

As Jessy’s elder sister, Pam said she was hurt by the negative comments but they try to ignore all the hurtful words.

To recall, Jessy was bashed after she mispronounced “plaques of appreciation” as “pleyks of appreciation” and was also quoted as saying “without further adieu” at the annual UAAP Cheerdance Competition. Her mistakes even trended on Twitter.

Although she was bashed, Jessy still tried to be a good sport and took to image-sharing application, Instagram, to share her thoughts.

The actress posted a quote that reads: “There is no need to be perfect to inspire others. Let people get inspired by how you deal with your imperfections”

She even captioned the post: “Good morning. Mahal ko kayo kahit ayaw niyo sakin ‘pleyks’ man.”

The event last Sunday was not the first time Jessy co-hosted the Cheerdance competition. She was also part of the program two years ago.

Trying her hands in showbiz

While Jessy is starting to build a name for herself in the show business, or even in hosting, Pam is also keen to enter in the industry.

She is now part of “Wattpad Presents,” a weeklong mini-series, which will air beginning September 22 on TV5.

Pam said acting and hosting are two things that she wants to do.

As early as 16 years old, she started appearing in independent films, took acting workshops organized by major broadcasting channels and hosted corporate events.

“(I like to do) kontrabida roles. At the same time, nagho-host ako ng mga events.”

Now that she is also trying her hands in showbiz, Pam has no qualms if the viewers will compare her to Jessy. Said the latter is also supportive of this new endeavor.

But Pam said she’s hoping that everyone will give her a chance to show what she can do.

“I want to be myself. What you see is what you get. And lagi akong tinatanong about kay Jessy kaya yung sarili ko, hindi ko na share sa ibang tao, which I really want to do,” she ended. (Sunnex)
