ACTRESS Jessy Mendiola clarified reports that a Colombian suitor followed her during her latest trip to Jeju Island in South Korea.
In an interview with the 21-year-old actress, Mendiola said that she had met Sebastian Lopez, a Colombian traveler, when she was vacationing with family and friends in Boracay Island in Aklan.
She said Lopez travelled for almost a year and has now returned to Colombia to study.
“He’s a traveler. Nagkataon lang na nagpunta siya sa Philippines tapos nag Boracay siya. Doon ko lang siya na-meet. Natapunan ko lang siya ng drink,” she recalled.
“Nakakatuwa siya kasi lahat ng nasa paligid ko kinakausap niya. I think that is common with travelers. Kasi alone siya and you have to talk to people to go to places. In my case, natuwa ako sa kanya kasi hindi naman kami ganun katagal magkakilala but he followed me in Jeju,” she added.
The ABS-CBN actress said Lopez told her that he’s also going to Korea but she was surprised when he actually followed her group in Jeju.
“We just talked about our next trips after Boracay and he said and next stop niya is Korea. Masaya kasi siyang kasama. Hindi ko kasi inakala na pupuntahan niya ako sa Jeju and effort yun,” she added.
The actress also disclosed that even if the 19-year-old is now back in Colombia, they constantly communicate with each other.
When asked if Lopez is already courting her, Mendiola said she is just happy that she met him.
“Wala pa naman doon (sa ligawan stage) kasi hindi ko pa naman siya matagal na kakilala. But it feels like we’ve known him for a while kasi he’s very open,” she said.
“I’m not saying now that I am ready. It’s just the fact that I met someone like him and he said na he met someone like me din despite yung buong year na nagtravel siya. Kami daw yung tumatak sa kanya and that really means something. Andoon ako sa feeling na masaya,” she added.
She said Lopez is matured for his age and they share many things in common.
“Wala naman yun sa age and I think nasa pag-iisip yun, sa maturity. Naka-usap ko naman and matured naman siya. Wala pa naman. I’m just happy that I met someone like him,” she added.
“Ngayon lang kasi ako nakikita na pag nag kwento sa isang tao, masaya. Ako din nagugulat din sa sarili ko kasi kakakilala ko pa lang sa kanya. Somehow, I’m willing to get to know him more. I want to get to know him more.”
When asked if she plans to visit Lopez in Colombia in the future, the ABS-CBN star replied: “We’ll see.” (Sunnex)
