7 Growth Hacks for Business

Armando Bartolome I have been in the business for more than 20 years, and one thing that I love about my work is being able to meet other people who have inspired me and taught me important lessons about entrepreneurship. How does an entrepreneur make his business flourish among other businesses? Here are a few things I’ve learned. Growth Hack #1 Know your products and services I am sure there was a time you approached a salesperson only to find out that he knew little about what he was selling. That is definitely a no-no in business. Entrepreneurs should know every facet of their business. Even if you have a great team working for you, you should still know what is done in every department. Knowledge is POWER! When people ask what you’re offering, you should be able to tell them exactly what your product or service is. This way, you can encourage them to try it. You may be a funny person who likes to joke around, but when it comes to business, speak to others in a way that that will make them listen and understand your message. Be straightforward. But also be careful lest you come off as sarcastic, proud or offensive. Read Related Story: Grow Your Investment by Growing Your Patience Growth Hack #3 Train your employees Read More …

3 Reasons to Love Elait’s Artisanal Rolled Ice Cream and its advocacy

Ice cream is one of the all-time favorite desserts of Filipinos but lately; artisanal rolled ice cream is the big thing.  Elait, a local ice cream parlor, takes on this new trend with a flair all its own. The name itself stands for two words: “elate” meaning uncontrollable joy, and “lait”, the French word for milk.  What makes this new ice cream place so special? Elait uses locally-sourced ingredients.  One of Elait’s official hashtags #HappinessInACup, and it’s no wonder.  The ingredients are guaranteed fresh, sourced from key, trusted suppliers.  To complete the dessert experience, it is presented beautifully with perfectly rolled ice cream and mouthwatering toppings of your choice. Elait offers unique flavors that cater to the Filipino tongue.  Where else can you find Chocnut Dinasaur ice cream (yes, it is spelled with an “a” and not an “o”), which is a rich combination of Milo powder, Chocnut and chocolate drizzle?  There’s also Ube Flan, which is somewhat similar to halo-halo as it has leche flan, ube and pinipig crunch.  Other interesting flavors are Salted Egg Surprise which has tomato jam, caramel, popcorn and real salted eggs and Avocado Crunch which will also remind you of another local dessert because it has avocado, condensed milk and cornflakes. Here’s a snap of their menu for the rest of their flavors.  You also have the option of making your own ice cream.  The price is Php 180 for Elait Special flavors and Php 200 for the premium ones.  Health conscious customers can also Read More …

Elmer Padilla has a wall full of action figures in his home. Hellboy, Deadpool, Bumblebee and even the Predator grace the walls where he lives in Cavite, but unlike other action figures that are sold in malls for thousands and thousands of pesos, he made all of his from scrap pieces of flip-flops. When he’s not making action figures out of scrap, Elmer is a pedicab driver, working hard to make ends meet. His family of four moved from Catbalogan City in Samar province to Imus City in Cavite to try his luck in the big city, but lack of money meant he couldn’t even buy food for his family, or even acquire papers to find a job. On September 17, Elmer walked 5 kilometers to reach the Lotus Mall in Imus to create action figures from Hellboy and the Transformers out of flip-flops. Photos of Elmer’s skill and craftmanship as well as his products hit Facebook and went viral. Photos of Elmer working on the steps of the mall quickly went around Facebook, and as of now has around 41K likes and 17,430 shares. Elmer’s craftmanship was borne out of extreme poverty, and he quickly taught himself to create toys from scrap from the age of 9. “Lumaki po ako na walang laruan kasi po hirap po talaga ang pamilya ko. Mahirap ang kalagayan namin. Ultimo nagkakahalaga ng P10 hindi po mabili-bili (I grew up without toys because my family was poor. We really had a hard life. I Read More …
