Multi-tasking beauty: Murad’s Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PA+++ is a multi-tasking formula that immediately treats the visible signs of aging, blurs imperfections, and protects skin against UV damage. Available at Rustan’s.
RISSA,
I’ve been reading about blur creams in magazines. I want to try one, but I can’t seem to find one with built-in SPF. Maybe you’ve come across one?
TRISH
That’s my frustration, too. Blur creams work wonders, but most brands on the market don’t contain SPF. That’s why I was so excited when dermatologist-created brand Murad launched its Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PA+++. I’ve tried it and I love how this multi-tasking product saves time. This three-in-one translucent wonder treats skin while blurring out imperfections and protecting skin against UV damage. It boasts invisible sunscreen, so you never need to worry about an unflattering white sheen on your complexion, which most sunblocks give off. So with one swipe, you can treat, blur, and protect your complexion.
I’ve been using it recently and it feels silky upon application, yet dries into a soft matte finish. What excites me most is that it has broad-spectrum sunscreen, so it allows you to skip that extra layer of sunblock in your beauty routine. Since this product also acts as a blur cream, it visibly improves skin texture upon application and refines pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. But since the product is translucent, it does not provide coverage and hide blemishes. I like wearing this on its own, but it can be worn under makeup for extra coverage.

Eyeliner tricks
DEAR LUCY,
Lining my eyes always takes me forever. And the line always looks harsh, not symmetrical. But I also cannot afford to not line my eyes because I really look better when they are opened up a bit (thanks to eyeliner!). Can you help me with this?
LOURD
Yes. I think I can help you.
Lining the eyes is, for me, the most challenging part of putting on makeup. What has helped simplify things for me is getting the right brush. No, I do not use an eyeliner directly. Rather, I get a flat-tipped brush (I use MAC 212), dip it in dark brown shadow, and I line my eyes. The flat tip of the brush gives me a line that is continuous, there’s no science to it as I just trace my upper eyelids as close to the lash line as possible. And because I use eyeshadow, the effect is not harsh. I then curl my lashes, put beige powder right on the crease of my eyes, and I am good to go.
If you wish to intensify the line some more, then you can use liquid liner.
For the lower lids, I like to use reddish brown powder so that it is defined very softly. It should be a shadow effect, more than a clean line, and I use it only on the lower outer corners.
Oh, and don’t forget to use mascara! Maybelline Hyper Curl Volume Express is my favorite!
