PHL among the Top 10 world destinations to celebrate Easter

Manila has been ranked in the Top 10 Destinations to Celebrate Easter by Fairfax Media New Zealand’s Stuff. [via THA Holiday] The multi-award winning news and information website for New Zealanders cited how Easter “is a big deal in the Philippines” with its majority Catholic population. Writer Brian Johnston recommended Makati district for hosting the “most colourful celebrations, featuring roadside shrines – sometimes up to 40 in a kilometre stretch of street – in masterful creations of folk art.”  “Street parades include religious re-enactments, marching bands and choirs. Street hawkers sell sweets and rice puddings, and a carnival atmosphere reigns,” wrote the travel writer who has been to Philippine tourist spots several times. Jobseekers can access the internet based job seeking and matching site PhilJobNet to find local job vacancies. Job vacancies for call center agents topped the offerings at 1,876 according to Labor officials. Cine Lokal theaters to exclusively screen indie films

SM Cinema in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will dedicate 8 theaters across the country to screen independent, award-winning films beginning April 2017. FDCP says the project seeks to give indie films a commercial venue while creating an audience. "Cine Lokal's goal is two-fold: to provide independent filmmakers with a commercial venue for their films, thereby strengthening their experience and training on film marketing and distribution, and to create a culture of support and viewership among Filipinos nationwide,” said FDCP Chairperson Liza Diño. The largest cinema chain in the country has marked the following 8 theaters to screen Cine Lokal films by April 19: SM Megamall SM North EDSA SM Fairview SM Iloilo SM Southmall SM Cebu SM Bacoor SM Mall of Asia FDCP has selected Lent-related films for the first screening of Cine Lokal: digitally remastered Nora Aunor starrer “Himala” and Oscar-winner “Spotlight.” "Iadya Mo Kami" and "Of Sinners and Saints", two films about priests whose faith are tested, will also be screened.  Cine Lokal films are guaranteed a week-long run, with possibilities of a regular screening crossover depending on audience demand. Chinkee Tan It’s Monday again! Time to go back to work and school. There are so many deadlines and homework to do. Have you ever felt lazy the whole night, and found yourself preparing and working on your readings only by dawn? Have you ever rushed to school or work, found yourself having a last look at your exams or reports? How about staying up late, chugging loads of coffee, and on your way to work, you rush? You almost tore the page of whatever it is that you’re reading, and you feel yourself having a cold sweat. The question is, “Are you finished with your work or are you just beating the deadline?” CRAMMING is the word for this scenario. We are all very familiar to this kind of studying and preparation technique. This is the quickest way to remember (at the very least) some parts from our notes, or do last minute changes that we were not able to finish ahead of time. When I was still in school, I was confident that I wouldn’t get called right away for any recitation because that was done according to class number anyway (overconfident).
