Miss Universe 2017 Candidates Fall for Bohol’s Natural Beauty

Three of the most beautiful women in the universe recently visited Panglao, Bohol to promote Philippine Tourism. Miss Universe Malaysia Samantha James and Miss Universe Russia Kseniya Alexandrova, together with our very own Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters posted photos of their visit last Friday: all smiles and undoubtedly having a great time. Tourism Philippines mentioned that Peters played the role of host as she showed off the beauty of one of the best beaches in the country.

The lovely ladies were obviously impressed with Ms. Malaysia saying that she wants to come back and Ms. Russia calling the island a “fabulous paradise”.

South African beauty Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2017 is in the country to show the world why “Its More Fun in the Philippines.” She’s here to take part in the Department of Tourism’s four-day Miss Universe 2017 Winners Tour. Nel-Peters brought along last year’s winner, Iris Mittenaere. She rejoined her fellow candidates who arrived earlier, namely Miss Universe Great Britain 2017 Anna Burdzy, Miss Universe Singapore 2017 Manuela Bruntraeger, Miss Universe Canada 2017 Lauren Emily Howe, Miss Universe Russia 2017 Nicky Opheij, Miss Universe Italy 2017 Maria Polverino, Miss Universe Russia 2017 Ksenia Alexandrova, Miss Universe Spain 2017 Sofia del Prado and Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 Samantha James. Philippine representative Rachel Peters had also flown back home Monday and would be joining the candidates in upcoming events. Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere passed on her crown wearing a stunning gown by Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco. Mittenaere looked stunning in what Cinco described as a “scarlet red ombre couture gown in full Swarovski crystals” as she handed over the title to Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa during the Miss Universe 2017 coronation night in Las Vegas. In January, when Pia Wurtzbach passed on her Miss Universe crown to Mittenaere, who represented France, in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant held in Manila she wore a blue gown by Cinco. Cinco, who set up his couture label in 2003, has dressed a number of international stars including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and country singer Carrie Underwood, Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai, and Mariah Carey. This year alone, he’s dressed crystal heiress Victoria Swarovski for her big day, as well as several royals and even his own niece.

Lou Jen Saldo is 2017 Fitness Universe Champion

Lou Jen Saldo [via Facebook] Fitness trainer, model and athlete Lou Jen Saldo has won the Fitness Universe Championships, and the Ms. Bikini Short Class Champion title of Ms. Bikini Universe in the USA. Saldo, a member of the Philippine Women’s National Rugby team-the Lady Volcanoes, said she was surprised when she won the international competition titles in her 2 categories. “Actually, I never expected to win. Since I was still on the jet lag, I knew it would be hard for me to do things especially since the time here and in the Philippines is very different, it was hard to adapt to it,” Saldo admitted in a Fitness Universe statement. The bodybuilder banked on the world renowned Filipino tenacity and faith in persevering through the difficulties she faced in the foreign environment saying, “I just stayed strong and believed to myself that no matter what happened, I would showcase what I have. I never stopped praying and had a strong faith that I knew I could do this, and I would make it. Smile and Shine.” Fitness Universe Championships is the first major international competition for Saldo. The Fitness Universe Champion is a personal fitness trainer, Muaythai instructor and licensed Kickboxing instructor who previously won the Slimmers World International / Ms. Great Bodies 2016. Malacañang on Sunday thanked Ariela Arida and Nonito Doniare for putting a smile on Filipinos’ faces, despite super Typhoon Yolanda that left hundreds dead in its wake. “I think any sort of positive news to us would be very welcome at this point, and we extend our congratulations to Ms. Arida and to the Filipino Flash for excelling in their particular fields—si Ms. Arida, syempre, doon sa Miss Universe pageant; si Nonito Donaire doon sa kanyang laban,” Deputy Spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a radio interview aired over state-run dzRB. Donaire scored a come-from-behind ninth round knockout win, Sunday at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas; while Miss Philippines-Universe Ariella Arida was 3rd runner-up in the Miss Universe 2013 pageant held in Moscow, Russia, early Sunday Morning (Manila). “We appreciate the efforts to bring a little bit of a smile to the faces of countrymen who are going through so much in the aftermath of the typhoon,” Valte added.
